Awesome! I am super hyped about this series!

Ahdam (snowlocke) | 2429 comments I've already read AA thankfully since my month is booked up can't have another one but I'll join in the discussion

And thank you I also want to read this and I noticed a lot of my friends had it as to read can't wait to read it finally

Angus | 152 comments I've also only read AA, it wasn't my favourite book, but I do want to carry on with the series! Do you mind if I join in ? :)

Yes of course, Angus! My preference would be to start with book #2 in August but we can be flexible about it!

Angus | 152 comments I have no plans for summer so I'd be happy to start whenever :)

Solseit | 1516 comments I have to confess that I jumped the gun today. I have been looking at the book and I could not resist and I started (also bearing in mind that July 1 I start The Republic of Thieves).
I hope this does not mess up anybody's plans.

As for the content, I am in awe. The writing is intricate yet linear. The characters are great yet easy to understand. I cannot wait to arrive home and just read the book!

Angus | 152 comments Scandal! :O hahaha No worries though, I hope you enjoy it because I need some encouragement to carry on with book 2! :D

Jarek "the Mistborn" Dąbrowski (jarekthemistborn) | 408 comments The first book was pretty good. The writing is really nice but i found that it drags a bit. Same goes for the second book. Everything seems to be fine but for some reason its taking me way too long to finish. Nevertheless i do reccomend it:)

LOL Angus!
It is a tradition in this group to have an early starter in the reads :p
I felt it was appropriate to continue with it!

I am hyped - so far everything I read is so interesting!

Jarek "the Mistborn" Dąbrowski (jarekthemistborn) | 408 comments Its a weird thing with me and this series, I cant really pin point to what it is that drags and at the same time i find it very interesting:D maybe its just the summer vibe. I always have a harder time reading in the summer. Winter time is best for me:)

It is weird - it's a very slow-moving story, yet every scene develops character or progresses plot, so you still feel like you're going somewhere. This is the slowest of the elderling books, so I imagine you'll love the others if you like these. :)

Silvana (silvaubrey) | 1970 comments Amazing book. Just remember to prepare lots of tissues.

Jarek "the Mistborn" Dąbrowski (jarekthemistborn) | 408 comments I'll finish this trilogy for sure. We'll see after that if ill continue with the series

Ahdam (snowlocke) | 2429 comments Same here I'll try to finish the trilogy once I've read a couple of my first in a series books and I might try the other series in the world eventually and see how the story progresses

Liam (leeman729) | 828 comments When is this starting? Id like to join.

Solseit | 1516 comments In theory, the 1st of July. I jumped the gun and I started!

Solseit | 1516 comments I am through chapter 18. I am flying through the book - having the audio book as well helps.

It is a slow book but it is fascinating. I think I have a thing for slower (as in world setting and building) books and I enjoy them dearly.

I have so many thoughts about this book.

I felt pretty much the same way through book 1. I would also add how much I liked the relationship with the animals certain characters have. Its a recurring theme in book 2. The fool is amazing and we find out a little bit more about the things you mentioned in the next book but still its very mysterious. I had a little problem getting used to the names of the characters at first how about you? It kinda grew on me with time though:)

I am looking forward to book 2 even more now - and it is tough to make the choice to stop reading this series for a while. This is one of the first books that makes me feel I need more of it right away.

I am having quite some difficulties (but I am also in awe for the choice!) with the names of the royal family. That is such a weird and unique choice. Otherwise, the names are peculiar enough to not trip me but I would not be able to simply write them right now!

Jarek "the Mistborn" Dąbrowski (jarekthemistborn) | 408 comments It was a very original way to go about it:)

Silvana (silvaubrey) | 1970 comments Verity is both my favorite name and character.

I remember making my own name if I were in that world. You actually did not have to be royal to have a verb or noun as your name. Later in the series there is a stable boy named Perseverance (nicknamed Per). Your name is your main personality trait.

Anni | 5066 comments Or at least a Personality treat your parents whish you would develop. That's not always fitting, as we could see for the very special Lady Patience :)

Silvana (silvaubrey) | 1970 comments Ah, Patience! That is true. I wish we have a short story written about her and Chivalry.
