The Perks Of Being A Book Addict discussion
ARCHIVE Team Challenge: UNO 2017

Team Ron Weasley
Kazen - I'm struggling with Yes, Chef! Maybe I should have gone with the print edition but when I saw that the author was narrating the audiobook I went with that one. It is going so slow and I feel a bit bored. I've seen Samuelsson on lots of shows and interviews (hard to avoid if you're Swedish and interested in food...) and I normally really like him, but I'm starting to dislike his voice more and more.
Oh no! I read it in print so I have no idea what the audiobook is like. Baah, that's a shame. Familiarity is probably another big difference - I hadn't even heard of Sammuelsson before reading the book so everything was new to me. I think I even mentioned it in my review, as he went on about some tv show like everyone knew what happened but I was clueless. :P
Don't force yourself to finish something you're not liking, we'll find reverses elsewhere, no worries! So sorry it's not working out for you.

I might switch to another book for a while and then give it another chance.
I'm sure we'll be fine. It seems as if every other book I pick up works for Reverse - or at least one in three - without even trying! It's great! :)
Sarah wrote: "I'm sure we'll be fine. It seems as if every other book I pick up works for Reverse - or at least one in three - without even trying! It's great! :)"Phew, I'm so glad to hear that! My planned reverse is stuck in library hold purgatory so there's no telling when it will come through. ^^;; Read on, read on!
Sarah wrote: "I'm sure we'll be fine. It seems as if every other book I pick up works for Reverse - or at least one in three - without even trying! It's great! :)"Phew. Then I don't have to worry about finishing it right now.
Actually, the other audiobook I'm listening to also works for reverse.

....I might read it as well....funny thing I did not know that I should ;)...I just realized that the apartment that I booked for NY at the end of the month is only a few minutes away from the Red Rooster in the book and as the reviews are so great I was thinking about eating there ;)
Avamuc, you should totally go! Reading the book made me want to visit next time I get to NYC. The Yardbird caught my eye, but it all sounded delicious. :)
Speaking of reverse, just finished another one. :)The Mating Season:

I try not to have too many that are months away at a time, it's too demoralising! My oldest hold just came in (from January), so I've started a new long-term wait (#7 in the queue), probably I will get in August sometime. :/

It was ok! It was a kindle freebie I picked up ages ago. The secret part is just your standard government conspiracy to not let the rest of the world know that Australia is being zombified. Lol!

We got this!
~rolls up her sleeves~
I'll have one book, maybe two to add in the next 24 to 36 hours, yea! The last few days have been busy so I'll untangle my brain and figure out cards over the weekend. :)
While I haven't had a super bad run of books... I can't say I've had a good run, either. I just finished a 2 star read, and my current book is headed in that direction, too. How are you guys doing? Are you liking what you're reading? Anyone want to commiserate with me? ;)
I commiserate with you gladly or sadly, whichever you like. ;) So far, all my April reads were 5-stars. I got a couple of arcs from netgalley to finish from chicklit/make-over genre. Hope they won't disappoint either. I will also finish the 2 green card books by the end of April.
Multiple 5 stars in the same month?! I'm happy if I get to multiple 5 stars in a year... April has mostly been kind of ok but forgettable 2 to 3 stars books for me. The Swedish book I just finished is definitely the highlight of April so far. It was the last one I had to read in a long series, and I've been saving it for a long time. Finally decided to read it because I was feeling like I was heading into a reading slump and I needed a guaranteed good book.

Yay! I should hopefully finish another book today or tomorrow. I have family in town over Easter, but I'll try and get some extra reading done this weekend and next week.

Ah, ok, just checked there was a 3-star rating for Percy Jackson, but that still meant an enjoyable read. But I got really lucky with the other four books - they all earned their 5 stars deservedly. :)

The next four days are designated reading time......no work....bad weather....a large invitation to invest the time in reading, relaxing and meeting some family :). Hopefully I will be able to read a few books :D
About the ones I read....yes I had one huge dissapointment with this
. I really wanted to love this book...I was so intrigued due to the overall set up and the trailer on Amazon......but it was so confusing, no structure at all, no real story in it,.....a huge dissapointment. Fortunatly I really enjoyed the other books I read! :D

The April mini-challenge is an Easter Egg hunt!
The Easter bunny has been busy here around the Perks and has hidden a number of eggs within the team threads. (one per team thread)
Note: Not all of the eggs are hidden yet. They last ones will appear in the next few days.
Some of the eggs have tasks for us to read to gain extra points. Some require us to fill in the missing word/s or solve the riddles she left us.
There are lots of points on offer! 10 points for each task completed! (unless otherwise specified) Plus an extra 5 bonus points for each completed egg (i.e. you complete all the tasks given for that team egg)
❀ Only books read April 15-30 will count for this challenge. (Start of mini challenge is April 15, 7pm Sydney, Australia time)
❀ Please note that books started before April-15 don't count for this mini-challenge
❀ The countdown to the start of this mini challenge is here
❀ The usual book length requirement for UNO apply
❀ Books used for this mini challenge do not need to be separate books for what you are claiming for your UNO hands
10 minutes left until the Easter Egg Hunt begins! Our first task is to find all the easter eggs and their tasks! It will be located in message #3 in each team thread. The one in our own thread hasn't appeared yet.
(So for clarification: one task is hidden in each team thread, and we can do as many of the tasks as we want to)
