Can't really help. I did however publish my first book in May last year and only just set up my author page this year. No real reason for that other than I couldn't find out how to do it. Must have just not seen the instructions.I didn't have any problems with it despite the book being written under a pen name with a separate email account to my "real" Amazon one. It worked fine. Hope you get some answers.

I think that only Amazon will be able to deal with the request, if it's a naming issue. They're pretty good at resolving these kinds of things, it just takes a couple of days, typically.
Sometimes you can find answers quicker by searching on Google. I've done this myself when I've hit a problem with Amazon.
I called Amazon this evening and they said their site is down. They said that it will be down for two more days. I know how frustrating it is because I was trying to set up my site for my book. I hope this helps.
I was just coming back to let you know. A couple other authors I know having trouble today too.
Thank you Tara, Janet, Dylan, Pamela.They did change my name to my pen name, but said they'll come back to me in 2 to 3 days concerning the issue I have joining author central.
My book is finally on Amazon, therefore, after a long wait I jumped on my computer to set up my author account.
The issue is, I can't join, why? I don't know. Although my email address is linked to my author name but my book appears with my full name ( which I never planned to display).
So I can't get further step 2 ( identification), for which I get an error message.
Of course I emailed Amazon but I don't know how much time it will take them to come back to me.
I don't want to tell everyone to buy my book on Amazon when my author account is not created yet.
Has any of you experienced the same thing?
