Nihar Suthar (niharsuthar) | 38 comments Hi everybody!

One of my friends recently started a store on Amazon called "Backpacker Basics." The idea is to stock the best/tested backpacking travel items into one area so buyers don't have to do much research when buying new items for their trips. So, I was thinking...why not do this same thing for regular readers? Perhaps have an Amazon store online where readers can find the best reading items in one place (such as assortments of cute bookmarks, reading laps, transparent book weights, book ends, etc.).

I figured this would be a great group to ask about the idea because it's so entrepreneurial. I wouldn't want to start something like this without of course first testing the waters...so, my question to you all is: do you think there would be general interest in an Amazon store that stocks all essential, high-quality/tested items for readers? Would you buy from a store like that?

Thanks for your feedback and help!

Nihar Suthar (niharsuthar) | 38 comments Thank you, Tara! That's exactly what I'm interested in...to see if people would buy from such a store that stocks all high-quality products like this related to reading :)

Yes, of course!

Nihar Suthar (niharsuthar) | 38 comments Nik,

I actually didn't think too much about ereaders, but you're right, it's a huge market and ereaders are also considered a form of reading, which the store should cover if it's an "everything needed for reading" store. Of course, I would still have to do some more research into which gadgets are best/most useful for ereaders and what consumers actually want.

Maybe I would just provide ereader accesories at first though as a proof of concept before actually considering ereaders themselves.

Nik Krasno | 19865 comments Yeah, as the emarket grows, while paper diminishes ereaders' paraphernalia is probably something worthwhile to explore...

Also, on different discussions we hear that authors mention offering some memorabilia as a marketing instrument or gratitude to their readership. Someone mentioned t-shirts, someone else - liquor, I think- might also be a niche with some biz, if you'd offer to place something specific-book-related on your merchandise

Justin (justinbienvenue) Amazon has that already just not all in one organized category which I assume is what you mean. I like the idea, it makes for easier access for all associated items together in one place. Online Ikea for Amazon lol.

@Justin, the online convenience of having everything together in one spot is exactly what I'm going for.

Justin (justinbienvenue) I'm all about organization so I see your vision, I just wonder if Amazon does too.

Nihar Suthar (niharsuthar) | 38 comments Yea, I think that's part of what I have to test out.

I may try out a few products over the next few months and see if there is anything there.
