I think he's a good man at heart someone who tried to perform his duties as Sheriff as honorably as he could. He's also a good father.
His heart always seemed to be in the right place. He's juggling a lot of issues and is spread pretty thin. I liked that he loves his family and even how he felt about Molly. His tribute to her at the end was touching. Cork's also an enigma given his heritage. I like how he owns all of it.
I agree he was a very good father and was very well respected and people seemed to look up to him. I think he was a good sheriff until he was let go. I really did like his character.
