The author attempts to form connections between the monsters of the heart and the monsters of myth when Cork's friend Henry Meloux blames the legendary Windigo for the events. How well did he do in mixing Indian lore into the story?

For a good portion of the book I thought that there was going to be a supernatural element to the story. I'm still not sure if it was or not or if Cork hearing his name was all in his imagination. I liked getting some of the lore though.

I took the approach that it was in his imagination after listening to the stories. I really enjoyed the folk lore aspect of it too.

I read this some time ago but still remember being unsure about the supernatural element by the end of the story. The folk lore added a rich element to the book.

There were a couple of instances where kitchen dishes/ietms would jump or move on their own. That was the kind of stuff that made me not sure if the supernatural stuff was real or not. Like you, Jonetta, I still wasn't entirely sure by the end.

I would of thought it would of been a great story if they added the windigo as a supernatural effect. I was even excited about it and was let down and a little bit disappointed in it just being a myth I guess. Even close to the end though they were hearing the windigo calling peoples names and something evil would happen so who knows.

Yeah, I was wondering the same about the supernatural bit. I remember the show Supernatural had an episode on the Windigo too.

I read a fantastic book about the supernatural Windigo. If interested its called Edgewise by Graham Masterton
This book is so scary. Its a forest spirit. It will scare you and it is so good.

Haven also did an episode on the Windigo. I'm trying to remember if The x Files ever covered it. It'd be odd if they didn't.

I feel the author did a great job with Indian lore. It made the story have an apparent supernatural edge to it. I'm still not sure if the Windigo was real in the story or not.
