I think the setting was handled very well. I'm not particularly fond of the cold and I got a very vivid sense of the cold climate in this small northern town. Molly jumping into freezing water after her saunas blew my mind. I just can't comprehend that at all, lol.
I'm not a cold-weather person at all! The climate of this region felt like another character or a plot element. The author most definitely created a strong sense of setting, especially in the climax.
I am not a winter person at all but I do love to snuggle with a blanket drink some hot chocolate and read about the freezing climate. I do agree that the weather is another character.I am finding this so slow. I do like it but I am struggling with it. I decided to look at the questions to get me more interested in the story. I am at 46 % and it is starting to get good and hoping it stays that way. I will answer more questions after I read the book.
I loved the descriptions of the setting...while I don't care for snow and ice it does sound lovely if you are used to it, lol.
I've been obsessed with watching Youtube videos of people who live in tiny houses (on wheels) lately, lol. I watched one last night with a woman who lives in her tiny home somewhere in a very woodsy part of Wyoming. She basically had to dig a path around the perimeter of her house and the snow was shoulder to waist height! I immediately thought, "Nope, that's why I won't ever live in a cold weather climate."
That's just awful. Not sure I'd want to live in a tiny house in the wilds of Wyoming. Makes no sense.
