There is additional wording printed on the cover of one of the books.
Unless that is a sticky label added for some reason that can be peeled off and there for is not part of the book cover, the additional text on the cover counts as an alternate cover edition.

Oh dear! Thank you for pointing that out! The thumbnails look similar! I should have enlarged them to check! You are right, it's not just the cropping being slightly different, the proportion of the size of the publisher's logo is definitely not the same either. Have marked the newer created one as ACE.

To be honest, I think the observation of the librarian note for
is correct that it is representing
, but the note has specifically asked for them to not be merged.So taking that into consideration, I figured merging it with a coverless duplicate to bump up its rating would somewhat help, since the ACE actually has better image quality but was requested to be left alone.
Personally I don't really understand why the two editions (with covers) shouldn't be merged (for I don't agree it is a case of ACE); it looks like one's using a scanned version of the actual cover (hence the metallic-ish, embossing looking "Harry Potter"), while the other used the official digitized file, which is actually exactly what you would find on the publisher's page for this particular edition:

But yeah, since I don't know if there's other reasons for the two editions with covers to not be merged, I'm hoping to at least get the one with book cover of higher quality to get the dupe's ratings since they are representing the same edition.
