this book was about a girl living with people(called Freds?) other then her parents which she was taken from when she was a day old. She comes to find out after being sent home among other kids why they were taken in the first place. Also the the people who took them(Freds) weren't human and they held the kids at a community not on earth. The Freds taught the kids simple humanly qualities that will hopefully help them when they go home to not start more wars. When she gets home she finds out her dad is blind her mom treats her almost rudely not as a parent should but as time goes on she finds out why and why her dad asked about her eye color. She gets imprisoned for trying to ask for help but people jump on her while she tries to protect her little brother. A priest/missioner explains her situation and why she was imprisoned and he helps her escape. She goes back home and has to help parents lock house up because people are shooting and they don't want to lose kids again. this is when she helps parents take down a soldier and finds out hes not human.
