Lexi (nyxia) | 46 comments In this novel, a girl is orphaned and her aunt and uncle take control of her and her inheritance. They move in and take over her home, while giving little effort to taking care of her. The girl loves spending time in the woods with the fae found there. As the girl gets close to reaching her majority and taking over her inheritance, her guardians try their best to make sure to squeeze as much money out of the estate as possible and that rumor of her insanity spreads to have her declared permanently their ward. The girl does not really care about the money or inheritance until she finds out that her precious woods are being sold because they cannot sell the land itself. To protect the fae and their home, she will do what she has to in order to protect them, including marrying a neighboring lord in need of money. To save her fairy friends, she visits the neighboring destitute lord and proposes a marriage deal: they marry and he receives the fortune she inherited as long as she retains complete control of the rights to the trees in the woods.
Most believe that she she is either eccentric or crazy for believing there are fae in the woods.

LeShelle | 3 comments Sounds similar to one I read awhile back--Dragons of Autumn Twilight by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. I believe it was the first book in the Dragonlance Series.

LeShelle | 3 comments Aww..sorry.

I work at a used book store and checked with the lady who is over that section to see if she might know. I'll get back to you when I hear back from her.

Lexi (nyxia) | 46 comments In this book, the only one who believes in and knows about the fae is the main character, although she does eventually convince her new husband of their existence. Everyone one else thinks that magic and magical creatures are a figment of her wild imagination.
I remembered another scene from the book. When she marries the neighboring lord, she wears a dress embroidered with flowers and plants that is one of mother's old dresses and she remains barefoot during the ceremony. I remember the aunt and uncle summoning someone because they want her to be declared incompetent to decide who to marry, but it doesn't ho as they plan. The man she marries needs the money to restore the crumbling manor house he inherited.

Lexi - how long ago did you read this? Is it adult or YA?

I read this book 4 or 5 years ago. I believe it falls under adult romance.
