Well I got on the group page to make a comment about our BOTM and realized there was no thread for it! I swear I put it up but either I'm losing my mind or something messed up when I was posting it. Both are completely real possibilities. So for those that are participating or have read this book please leave your thoughts below!

So now for the comment I came to make. I do want to read this book but since it is fairly new I am having trouble finding it unless I want to buy it out right for $12 or more and I just really don't want to spend that much on it. I have put my name on the waiting list for it at the library but it says the wait time is 'indeterminable'. So hopefully I will get it and read it before the month is out but if not I will get to it sometime soon.
So for any of those who have read it or are reading it, what are your thoughts on it? I've read the synopsis and lots of comments and honestly, I have some mixed feelings about it. Not that it will be good or not but whether or not it will give me the heebie jeebies as I am the mother of a young girl. I am very interested to hear what everyone has to say about this one! Great pick on this book as it is definitely something to discuss!

Well after reading the first part of this book I decided I just couldn't do it. I will admit that this book is wonderfully written because it sucks you in from page one. I enjoyed the book a lot...until it got to the part where Kellen starts feeling attracted to Wavy. It probably has a lot (aka everything) to do with the fact that I am a mother to a young girl but it just..ick..it made me feel yucky and grossed out and weird and I just couldn't push past it to finish the book. I am confident that if you are able to look past that creep factor it would be an excellent read. But for this mom, I just can't do it. I would be really interested to hear what anyone else who reads this thinks about it thought.

Lexi Goyette I just finished this weekend and I had similar thoughts, Lisa. To me, the switch from a fatherly/daughterly relationship to a romantic relationship happened so quickly. I will say, I really enjoyed the book. I thought the writing was great and I sympathized with the characters, even Kellen and especially Wavy. Some of the more graphic scenes made me feel a little uncomfortable, especially reading them in public. But part of me thinks the reason I liked the book is because I haven't been shocked by many books lately. I've been in a predictable slump. I'm going to look into some of her other books.

That makes sense. I really don't think I would've had as many problems reading this if I wasn't a mom to a young girl myself and having that irrational part of my mom-brain put my daughter's face in for Wavy and then freaking myself out. It was very very well written though. I would like to revisit it one day if I am feeling a bit more in control of my irrational mom-brain. :D Thanks for your thoughts on it!
