SCIENCE FICTION, ROMANCE, AUTHOR PRESENTATION CATEGORY
Uninvited is a book about a girl named Davy who has it all together. She has a loving hott boyfriend, loving parents, amazing friends, and has been accepted into Julliard for her musical talents. Her future is planned out perfectly, she only has a few months till she graduates and will leave Texas and head to New York. Then one day she finds out she has a gene known as Homicidal Tendency syndrome (HTS). This story takes place about thirty years in the future when the ability to identify this gene has become a necessity. When Davy is identified as a carrier her life changes. She has to leave her private school and is sent to a public school, segregated from non-carrier students. She is suddenly treated like a criminal and a sub-class citizen even though she hasn't ever done anything bad or violent. This story continues as Davy finds out who her real friends are, who really loves her, and who she will be able to lean on as her world collapses. She meets another carrier named Sean who ends up becoming her greatest ally, and eventually something more. Her fear off him as a possible killer and herself as a possible carrier shapes her behavior through the story.

This book was awesome. I loved it. It brings into question the long debate about Nature verses Nurture. Does the gene mean that all people who are carriers will be killers? Or is it how they are treated after they are identified that brings that out of them? It was just a really interesting read and entertaining. It made me think of Unwind in some ways because it has little news reports or statistics at the beginning of ever chapter. It also has a futuristic feel.
