Elí Freysson (eli_freysson) | 23 comments I'll be releasing my space opera novel in a few days, but I originally released it in the form of a series of shorts stories, and each one has a page here on Goodreads. I have taken all the shorts down off Amazon, gathered them into a proper novel, and the shorts will never go up again.

I used the same cover image for all the shorts, just with a different title, and I'm still using the same one for the novel version. I'm worried about the book proper getting lost amidst all the shorts covers, but apparently books are never taken down here.

Is there some way to make the shorts at least a little more discreet on my page? Like, putting them in their own little sub-directory or something?

monika (lunafreya) | 132 comments The short stories will never be taken down here as there are people who may wish to add the edition they actually read.

As for making them more discreet i believe there is no way, but I think that on the series' page their numbers should be changed to decimal (eg book 0.1 instead of book 1), but not sure if it should be 0.X or 1.X so i will leave it to someone more experienced to decide.

lethe | 16373 comments I believe (but am not entirely sure) that GR policy is: if they were first released as shorts, the novel will be treated as an omnibus edition (i.e. the shorts keep their numbers and the novel will be #1-11).

Sandra | 31627 comments I've only ever seen them as monika described, but I don't know the official way either. (#0.1 etc)

Is there going to be more than one novel, or just the one?

I'm currently writing the climax of the sequel.

Then the first novel can be labeled as book 1, and set as primary in the series, and the parts can be labeled 1A, 1B, etc. and labeled as non-primary series elements.

Once it's up, that is. The novel does not appear to be listed on Goodreads yet.
