I have a 120k mystery/thriller set in a near future India. It's called 'The Other God' and is about a British woman who travels to India during the 2022 Kumbh Mela to find and bring her father home after he's spent 20 years in hiding for a murder she believes he is innocent of.
But the deeper she travels into India and the more she finds out about him the more she comes to realise that she has stepped into the middle of something much greater and that her father may be involved in a devastating plot to murder millions.
There are echoes of Heart of Darkness as she journeys up the Ganges in search of her father - from the plains of Varanasi to the holy towns of Haridwar and Rishikesh and eventually to climax in the high Himalayan Gangotri glacier - the very source of the Ganges itself.
There are 7 POV's who drive the story along (though one main character) and a big thriller twist at midpoint which moves the plot from mystery to out and out thriller.
I've had lots of good feedback so far and am hoping it is only a few tweaks away from sending to an agent.
