GooeyGoobert | 6 comments I never kept track of how many books I read a year, so I wasn't quite sure what number to set. I picked 12 so that would mean a book/month, which I am hoping is a reasonable goal for myself. I haven't made a list of books to read yet. Right now, I'm just trying to get through the books collecting dust in my Kindle bookshelf, but I don't want to limit myself to just those books as I would like to add new books coming out in 2017. I want to also diversify my reading list, so I'm hoping to include books from a wide variety of genre. Let's see how I do.

Progress:
1. A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir
2. The Guest Cat by Takashi Hiraide
3. The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.
11.
12.

GooeyGoobert | 6 comments Book #1/12
Title: A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir
Rating: 3/5
Format: Kindle
Length: 456 pages
Completed: January 11, 2017
Challenges: 2017 Reading Challenge
Review: HERE

Notes:
Overall, I enjoyed the book even though YA tropes are not my fancy. I thought this book did a better job of coming to close while still having material left for the next book than the first book did. I was disappointed to see the book under utilizing Laia who is the second protagonist but didn't feel like one here. Hopefully the next book feels like Elias and Laia instead of just Elias (who I also enjoy but wouldn't mind seeing the two shine together). Here's to waiting for the sequel.

GooeyGoobert | 6 comments Book #2/12
Title: The Guest Cat by Takashi Hiraide
Rating: 3/5
Format: Kindle
Length: 140 pages
Completed: January 20, 2017
Challenges: 2017 Reading Challenge

Notes:
The book didn't inspire in me any passionate emotion. I thought it was decent, but I probably won't be rushing to re read it. I don't know if it was a result of translation, or I simply can't appreciate it for what it was.

Powerful book that will stick with you for a long time. I was still reeling in from it 9 years ago when I first read it, and I imagine it'll stay with me after having read it again.
