There is a book series that came out a few years ago about this town where all of the adults disappear suddenly and when you turn 16 you disappear as well. The main character was male and as far as I know the kids started getting special powers. Thank you for the help!

Yes that's right! A friend of mine was reading it a few years ago and at first I didn't want to read it simply because of the cover (don't judge okay, I thought it looked like a "James Patterson" book and I can't stand him) but now thinking about it it seems like a good summer read. All I can remember my friend saying it was quoting "marry me and live on a houseboat."
LOVE that series!!
