Because that's the same year Mom was born in! I could've sworn you had like a fifty-year-old dad or something!
By the stars no!! My parents were both born in the incredibly late 70's ((my mom in July of 79 and my dad just a little over a year before her :p))
Yes, I have an incredibly young mom. :P It makes me wish there was more representation of teen girls with young moms. Everytime I read about a girl my age who has a mom around my mom's age, it's always because she was raped as a teenager. Like, God forbid a teenage girl has a loving relationship and just so happens to get a baby because of it.

I'm still not sure the best way to make the story feel really retro like Mom said. She's in a bad mood because of my brothers and doesn't feel like helping me right now, which is a shame since she was around the age of the kids in this fanfic. If anyone would know about growing up in the 80's, it'd be her. Like even what I remember of her stories as a kid, she mainly stayed in her room all day as a kid. The few times she did do something was her playing pretend with her sister and cousins.

It's accurate. It's about a real family and the things they did. The youngest kid in the family, named Adam, films a lot and at the end of every episode they have real life footage from something that happened in the plot. He helps write the story for every episode.
