ABANDONED. Fantasy series i read in 2000 about a girl that roses grow around

I read a book series back in middle school... Circa 2000ish... (from the school library) that were a party of a fantasy series about a peasant girl. Roses grew where ever she lived and roses never grew in that town and so aome higher power realized she was magical and were trying to get her. Thats about all I remember. If anyone can pull anything from that I would be grateful!

When you say it was a series, do you recall anything about how the series went -- like, was each book just a different standalone adventure, or was the entire series about the bad guys chasing her, or was the series about the girl growing up through adolescence, marriage, etc.? Was there a romantic element, and if so do you recall anything about that?

My memories of it are very vague and Im not sure that Im even remembering it correctly so its really a stab in the dark if someone remembers it. I recall there being multiple books in a sequence and the girl was young when she was found. I don't remember a romantic element. More like there were "caretakers" that helped her throughout the book. They rode horses everywhere and I think thorns were of some sort of importance with the roses that grew.
