Tammy Davis (portia2012) | 118 comments Finished my first book tonight of 2017. Here is my review :)

Started on January 3, 2017 and finished January 16, 2017
Rated it a 5 star
Author: Lilia Blanc

King's Lament starts out with a story of a extremely young Prince, who has been sold to a less than delightful Queen after the death of his mother and father. He is betrayed by almost everyone, except for a musician who comes and frees him from the dungeon before the Queen can get her hands on him.

Throughout the entire book the Queen's assassins are always one step ahead of the Prince and his clan of supporters, and they are met with many illnesses and injuries they must overcome in order to put the Prince back on his throne as rightful heir.

It is not all sadness, since the author throws in several expressions of love and sex to make up for all the fighting going on between the Queen and the Prince

I should state that if a person is not open to LGBT scenes they might not like this particular book.

I found it highly enjoyable, and I would highly recommend it. The author keeps you biting your nails in suspense as to what will happen next.

Tammy Davis (portia2012) | 118 comments This book kept me in total suspense, and quite surprised at how well it turned out.

It is about a house that sits in a small town. The house has been full of ghostly activity, suicides and down right murder. Legend has it that a witch is responsible, but one girl thinks it is hogwash. Until she meets a psychic that moves next door to a store where the woman works at. she starts confiding in the psychic after her sister is found dead, and search's for answers. But what if the answers she is seeking is not what she expects them to be? During her search she starts piecing together things that happened when her whole family lived in the house and why the house is the way it seems to be.

Can she set the house free from the haunting? You will have to read the book to find out.

Tammy Davis (portia2012) | 118 comments I wrote my basic review, but will post a little bit about it here. I offered to read the book because even though I am not generally into many books like this, it looked like it would be a good book. I was not diappointed.

The book is only 4 chapters, but it is full of wonderful stories. My favorite one was the last story. It tells of a little girl who can see different colours with every individual she knows, almost like seeing a person's aura. The sad part is that as she gets older the colours change because of meanness and negativity in them. In the end, after an accident she sees those people for who they are. Very moving.

Tammy Davis (portia2012) | 118 comments I just finished my fourth book, and now that I have a new tablet I hope to catch up some on reveiws and reading. I am so far behind, but I have plenty of books to read.

I read The watermelon King, and I ended up giving it only four stars. it was a good read, just not the type of books I can really get into.

It is about these two brothers that go out on a journey of Africa, and end up in Kenya. Along the way they run into obstacles and often have to change their plans. They have to wait for days or hours to get rides, they have to worry about roadside bandits, and even get a medical scare towards the end.

It does tend to start off boring, and go back and forth for a few chapters. Once you get settled it does become more of an interesting book. There is some funny parts during the read and also some sad scenes.

I walked away feeling like that I had been on a journey and that the whole point of the book is sometimes go out on a whim and explore. You might meet new people and learn about how they live. Overall, a good read. Just not my thing is all.
