Check out the Cat in the Stacks series by Miranda James. All the books have a cat on the cover. It's a cozy mystery series written by a male librarian under a pen name. The books all have bookish themes, as the lead character is a librarian. I'm currently reading the third book.
I'm having a hard time finding books that *don't* have cat covers! Seriously, let me know if you want me to send you one.
As tempting as it is to get a cat book, I'm trying *really* hard to read off my TBR mountain instead of bringing new books into the house. But thank you both! Xanthi, can I just come visit instead? ;)
Stina wrote: "Ah, I understand. I'm trying very hard to do that myself."As you'll see in my "post your plans" thread comment, I altered some of the challenges to accommodate books I've already got. It's ridiculous how much I've got piled up.
So while out and about yesterday I came upon two new Little Free Libraries and one had Cats and the People They Own which is mostly full of little one-liners and has a cartoon cat on the cover. So I guess I can pull of this one as intended after all. (So much for no new books.... :) )

Well, at least it doesn't sound like it's a huge time investment, so maybe you can release it before it gets too comfortable in your house.

Heh. I dismantled my Christmas tree tonight, and there was a copy of File M for Murder in there. :-)

I've decided not to make this its own challenge, but I will be keeping track of how many I read for this challenge. It will be interesting to see how many extra I read without even trying.

I went through my kindle stash and cats seem to gravitate towards cozy mystery covers. Here's what I found in my TBR pile (most likely free books, so quality may turn out to be questionable):Sweet Secrets by J A Whiting
Agatha H and the Airship City by Phil and Kaja Foglio
All-Butter Short Dead by H Y Hanna
Spell Booked by Joyce and Jim Lavene
Switching Hour by Robyn Peterman
Save The Cat! Strikes Back by Blake Snyder (not free, not fiction)
Death, Guns and Sticky Buns by Valerie S Malmont
Death of a Crafty Knitter by Angela Pepper
Black Cat Crossing by Kay Finch
Nursing a Grudge by Diana Orgain
Cupcakes, Pies and Hot Guys by Pamela Dumond
Haunted Hijinks by Madison Johns
Perfectly Pickled by Lizz Lund
It All Began, A witch PI mystery by Adele Abbot
Death by Inferior Design by Leslie Caine
Playing with Poison by Cindy Blackburn
Catnapped by Patricia Fry
The Dalai Lamas Cat by David Michie
The Weirdness by Jeremy Bushnell
A Charming Crime by Tonya Kappes
Oh, my. I could probably read cat cover books for the rest of the year. Has anyone read these? Where should I start?
The Dalai Lama's cat is really good! It is the first of a trilogy. Definitely start with that one.I have read one book in the series by Malmont and enjoyed it.
I think that Agatha H book is one I've earmarked for a steampunk prompt in another challenge. I guess I haven't looked at the cover yet, because it wasn't on my radar as a cat cover.
Xanthi wrote: "The Dalai Lama's cat is really good! It is the first of a trilogy. Definitely start with that one."I second Xanthi's opinion of The Dalai Lama's Cat. I was gifted a copy at the Oxford Convention and broke my own rules by keeping it instead of passing it on. I did pass on a different copy or two. Didn't know it was a trilogy, though -- gonna have to hunt down the rest of them.
The author has started a dog themed one now.He lives in my city and he personally delivers copies of his books to be sold att he main cat shelter here, and donates copies for their fundraisers.
Crossed this one off the list, but like Stina, I will keep track of all the ones that fit this category.Bedtime Stories for Cats
I have the Malmont book somewhere, and I really should read it soon. I vaguely remember hanging out with Valerie in a hotel bar, helping Kris Neri get drunk after the Agathas one year.
Another one -- even though the cat is small, it is there on the cover.A Man Called Ove. Highly recommend this book.
I have just finished reading "Jennie" by Paul Gallico. The main story is about a little boy, Peter, being knocked down by a car in London, and waking up to find he has been turned into a large, white tomcat. Not realizing Peter is the cat, his nanny throws him out, and he has to come to grips with being a stray cat in a large city, and losing all contact with the people he loves. He is taken under the wing of Jennie Baldrin (a beautiful tabby), and taught how to be a cat. However, as the story unfolds, Peter and Jennie learn about each other, and about friendship, loyalty, honesty, compassion, love. Highly recommend.
Another cat on the coverHow to Handle Your Cat/Dog
Oh, and Wildcat Under Glass had a wildcat -- which is a cat
Total of 7 so far
How am I only up to four cat-cover books for the year??
