I have read 27 of 200 at this moment, on track.

message 55: by Devi (new)

Devi (views_she_writes) | 25 comments I have set up to 100 books this year. It is little less than last year and much much less than the year before last. I really want to get back to reading properly

As of today, I am 19/82 -- which puts me two books behind. I'm not too worried, as I know I did more reading during the summer months last year. How's everyone else doing with their goal?

message 57: by Linda (new)

Linda (rudylkr) | 8980 comments I haven't paid attention lately and I'm apparently 5 books ahead! 32/110 - love the cushion!

message 62: by Erin (new)

Erin Johnson (erinjohnsonwrites) | 5 comments Wow! These are amazing goals! :) I set mine to 30...after reading everyone else's that seems really low now, haha!

You can always up your goal if you reach it before the end of the year. This year I've started at 30 and I've read 19 so far (10 ahead). I'll probably increase another 10 when I get to 29 and go on that way. I'm not feeling the pressure like other years when I set a higher goal so this seems to be working for me.

I'm still two books behind -- which is progress as I was four or five behind last week. :-|

message 65: by Eden (new)

Eden | 4 comments My challenge is set at 50 books!! Hopefully I can make it!!

message 66: by Julesy (new)

Julesy | 1412 comments We are already one-third through the year. I have completed 31 books out of my goal of 80. By my calculations, that means I am 39% complete for my goal so far.

message 67: by MadameZelda (new)

MadameZelda I went over my goal by 33 books. I keep saying I'll pace myself!

message 68: by Melodie (new)

Melodie (melodieco) | 5280 comments 33/90 or 2 ahead!

message 69: by Karen M (new)

Karen M | 1436 comments I'm up to 23/30 and reading #24.

message 70: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Butala | 7 comments I set mine up to 150 this year and i'm42% there!

MadameZelda Sabrina wrote: "I only just joined GR recently, so I didn't want to set my goal too high. I'm going to try for 25 books (which is peanuts when I see some of the goals in this thread!! LOL) and I'm already behind...."

LOL. I felt the same way, Sabrina. I'd see over 350 books read by a reader and I'd say to myself, "Who wants to see my puny goal?"

But we all have to start bit by bit.

message 72: by Aymee (new)

Aymee (asphaltcowgrrl) MadameZelda wrote: "Sabrina wrote: "I only just joined GR recently, so I didn't want to set my goal too high. I'm going to try for 25 books (which is peanuts when I see some of the goals in this thread!! LOL) and I'm ..."

I hear you both. There was a time where I could read 250+ books a year. Now, I'm lucky to hit 50. Kids, I swear, they ruined my reading life! :D

message 73: by MadameZelda (new)

MadameZelda LOL, Aymee. I started with less than 35. I now do over 250 a year. But I am expecting as life gets in the way, it will go up and down.

Aymee (asphaltcowgrrl) MadameZelda wrote: "LOL, Aymee. I started with less than 35. I now do over 250 a year. But I am expecting as life gets in the way, it will go up and down."

Pretty much! Between work and kids, I either get to read a lot or nothing. There seems to be no in-between.

message 75: by Tonya (new)

Tonya De Lige | 177 comments I have a goal of 50, but am 8 books behind. I am determined to catch up. This is my 4th year doing this challenge and haven't come close to meeting it. I need to spend less time on social media, I know that is part of the reason I am reading less.

message 76: by MadameZelda (new)

MadameZelda So true, Tonya. I feel social media is a waste of time and I am guilty myself! What can I say? I don't want to talk my husband's ear off!

Sabrina, you can enter books already read this year before you joined GR. All you have to do is set a date when you mark a book read for it to count towards this year. '-)

message 78: by Gary (new)

Gary Sundell | 2274 comments I have read 37 so far. My goal is 50. I am currently actively reading books 38 and 39. I am at 20% on one of those and 6% on the other. With luck I should have both done by the end of the weekend.

message 79: by Heather L , Cozy Mysteries Moderator (new)

Heather L (wordtrix) | 27551 comments Mod
Am now 30/80 -- only one book behind. Now that all the season's finales are about over, I should do a lot more reading. I don't usually follow any summer TV series.

message 80: by Gaylene (new)

Gaylene Peyatt | 5 comments I'm at 48 out of 50 as of this morning. I was out of work during the first few months of the year and got a large jump on my reading. Since I have gone back to work, it has slowed down dramatically. I usually try to keep an audio book going for my commute, a kindle book for lunch and waiting times and a physical book for when I'm at home.

message 81: by MarieBL (new)

MarieBL Broussard-Landry (marie_broussard-landry) | 350 comments I just entered this evening! I've been in Goodreads and this fun group since about February of this year, so am still learning about all the activities! :)

I set my first goal at 50, since I am late starting (I usually read at least 2 or 3 books a week). But when I entered 50, Goodreads must have automatically counted all the books I've read since starting in February. I looked through the list, and it's all books I have read this year, and was already at 50. So I hope it's OK to count those...

I changed my goal to 100! This is such fun! :)

message 82: by Trish (last edited May 19, 2017 12:57AM) (new)

Trish (trishhartuk) | 423 comments Well, I currently appear to be 25 books ahead of schedule for my target of 225 - maybe I should increase it!

message 83: by Linda (new)

Linda (rudylkr) | 8980 comments 47/110 - 6 books ahead :)

message 84: by MarieBL (new)

MarieBL Broussard-Landry (marie_broussard-landry) | 350 comments CONGRATS Trish and Linda for being ahead of schedule! I'm new to this, and am going to check now and see where I am after adding 2 recently finished books! :)

I envy those who are ahead of their goals, especially as I am somehow two books behind again. Sigh...

message 86: by Carla (new)

Carla (carla1957) My goal was 450 books. I am at 232/450 which is 58 books ahead of schedule, I must say that I do read a lot of children's and middle grade books so about half are that.

message 87: by Julesy (new)

Julesy | 1412 comments Heather L wrote: "I envy those who are ahead of their goals, especially as I am somehow two books behind again. Sigh..."

You are much too hard on yourself, Heather. We are not even halfway through the year yet. Plenty, plenty, plenty of time to catch up, especially with only 2 books behind. ;-)

message 88: by Heather L , Cozy Mysteries Moderator (new)

Heather L (wordtrix) | 27551 comments Mod
Julesy: I know, it just seems like the harder I try to catch up this year, the more I fall behind. :-P

message 89: by Karen M (new)

Karen M | 1436 comments I'm 25 / 40 = 10 ahead. I just increased my goal from 30 to 40 books.

message 90: by MadameZelda (new)

MadameZelda Heather L wrote: "I envy those who are ahead of their goals, especially as I am somehow two books behind again. Sigh..."

Pick a low goal to feel successful. I did that first at 30.

message 91: by Heather L , Cozy Mysteries Moderator (new)

Heather L (wordtrix) | 27551 comments Mod
My goal is actually lower than it was two years ago. For six consecutive years I read just over 100 books annually. Last year I lowered it to 80, due to life changes and (barely) managed a couple over that -- which is why I set my goal for 80 again this year.

message 92: by MarieBL (new)

MarieBL Broussard-Landry (marie_broussard-landry) | 350 comments Heather, I agree with Julesy, you are being too hard on yourself! I think you posted elsewhere that you read more in summer, since not much new on television. You will catch up, and get ahead, in no time! :-)

I, on the other hand, might fall behind now... I finally realized that, if I am going to move this summer, I MUST read *less* and pack boxes, donate/throw things away, clean :( and shred stacks of old papers...

I just read that last sentence aloud to myself! :-\

message 93: by MarieBL (new)

MarieBL Broussard-Landry (marie_broussard-landry) | 350 comments CONGRATS, Karen and Carla, for being ahead of schedule! :)

MarieBL Broussard-Landry (marie_broussard-landry) | 350 comments Heather, also, please remember how much time you spend moderating the group, encouraging all of us, responding to us... That counts for MANY books read!!!

Consider yourself appreciated! :)

message 96: by Naomi (new)

Naomi (tribalcat) | 307 comments I forgot to post my goal in here for 2017. I set it for 100 books, and I just completed the 100th book today. Whatever will I do for the rest of the year? *LOL* I'm having a blast getting caught up on some of the many series that I read.

message 97: by Paula (new)

Paula Adams (goodreadscompadams57) | 44987 comments My goal was 100 but I changed it to 75. I've been fighting migraines for months now and they are winning. Also will be heading up to MA to see our house there. Going to be Floridians year round.

message 98: by MarieBL (new)

MarieBL Broussard-Landry (marie_broussard-landry) | 350 comments Naomi, CONGRATS! You could always read another 100. :) Reading really is a blast; one of my favorite things to do!

message 99: by MarieBL (new)

MarieBL Broussard-Landry (marie_broussard-landry) | 350 comments Paula, sorry about the migraines! My sister used to get them; they were wicked. Enjoy year-round Florida--I went to school there years ago and loved it!

message 100: by Valerie (new)

Valerie | 440 comments I am up to 55/100. I set my goal around that each year, since I donate $1 per book to my library. I try and donate as I go along so it does not hit the wallet hard.

Last year, I upped my goal, but I had surgery that laid me up for two months. During May, I hardly read at all because of standardized testing. If I need to do so, I will up the amount. Right now, I am happy where I am at. It says I am 16 ahead of schedule, but I know that a few of the books I have to read are big tomes. (Mists of Avalon, for instance is over 800 pages)! So, I will be reading those bigger ones over the summer.
