John Seymour 1. How did you experience the book? Were you engaged immediately, or did it take you a while to "get into it"? How did you feel reading it—amused,
sad, disturbed, confused, bored...?

John Seymour I was engaged pretty quickly, and though I often wasn't sure where it was going, pretty much stayed engaged throughout.

I always enjoy Dostoevsky's writings and I enjoyed this one a lot. I found the main character of this book more likeable than the author's other books.

Katie | 1 comments I like following this group for reading inspiration but this was my first time actually doing a book at the same time.

I really liked this book, I was drawn in immediately. It took a long time to get through but I wanted to know what happened next.

I was up and down with this book. I was very engaged in the first part but lost interest a bit as the book went on. It is definitely a character driven novel.

I was drawn in straight away and really enjoyed the story.

Tracy (tstan) | 559 comments I was engaged from the start. What a divergence from Crime and Punishment. While reading this one, though there were some very dark moments, for the most part I imagined the setting as filled with light. That was not the case with C&P.

Pip | 1822 comments I enjoyed the beginning but then I got completely lost in the motivation of all those characters. I found the middle part tedious and rambling and I could not understand what was going on. When I finally got around to finishing it I found the ending much more interesting
