but I really don't think the material is explicit enough for 18+ but not 100% sure any guidance appreciated

DAEMONES AND ANGELI–BOOK 1–THE DEMON AWAKENS– SYNOPSIS
Tremaine Isaacs, a young man with a heavy burden, spent the last six months living as a drunken beggar in a feudal civilization. His knowledge of technology and science no match against a society of powerful magicians. He meets a crazy old woman, who guides him onto the path of self-healing and he lays his tragic story before her.
His gypsy birth parents died violently just after he was born, and he’s rescued by a middle-aged couple who raised him as their own child. Years later, in the space of a single afternoon, he loses his entire family to a group of off world magicians. All he had left was his telepathic friend Loki.
Injured and afraid, he’s protected and nursed back to health by a family of dire wolves. He learnt his father survived the attack, but was near death. He rushed to his side and used his knowledge to save his life. To help them heal, he learnt control over his body and powers.
He uncovered a diabolical plot against his country and met the strangely familiar Duke Khalistan. Tre’s unsure who the Duke took his orders from, but with an army of advanced magicians on their doorstep he didn’t want to take any risks, and they flee.
Tre’s attacked by a powerful soldier, but before he’s killed they’re saved by an entity who offered a brief window into Tre’s true self, and they escape to the capital city. While investigating the city Tre is chased to the castle, where he finds himself at the royal interrogation of Duke Khalistan. He saved the King from assassination, but in the process was implicated in the attempt.
They flee the city and journey east, to stay ahead of any pursuers, where they finally find safe sanctuary and a chance to start again in the port city of Suddene.
