L J | 714 comments M.L. Buchman calls the Dead Chef stories thriller. I'd say blend of traditional and cozy mystery with thriller elements but I started series in the middle. Reading first one may change my mind.

ETA: Probably should have said that resolution more military or political thriller type not cozy. I find this satisfying but many cozy non thriller readers may not.

This is the second time I’m reading this. I followed the real time read of A Discovery of Witches from mid September through October. Then the All Souls group did a read along for Shadow of Night because a real time read wasn’t feasible. Due to Season w of the A Discovery of Witches TV series premiering on January 8-9this year they aren’t continuing on to read The Book of Life so I’m reading it on my own. I haven’t read Time’s Convert yet bur plan to.

I had heard that the TV episodes are not the same as the book. One day I hope to see the episodes. Time's Convert wasn't as great, IMO, as the trilogy. Happy reading!

I felt some parts were slow and not something I would normally read if it weren't for the fact I needed a black cover for a challenge. But it did make me do a lot of thinking; I still feel sorry for Addie.

Gary Sundell | 794 comments Sink me, I am currently reading The Scarlet Pimpernel. Don't understand why GR pulls up every book in the series but the original when I try to add the book.
Earlier this year I have read See Them Die by Ed McBain which is the 13th in the 87th Precinct series. Again GR refuses to offer the book when I add book. Also read Year of the Unicorn by Andre Norton Book 3 in the Witch World series.
