I used to think the exact same thing. But then I thought that if he came back (theoretically) he'd likely be hunted and captured and tortured and slaughtered by all those seeking justice. Especially the Clave. And I wouldn't want that at all. So I'm satisfied, despite being heartbroken, that he died the way he did.
