Have you started yet?
Today sometime probably - trying to de-Christmas the house and it is taking forever! (but, Nothing Lasts Forever! ;) )

Today is my de-Christmasing the house too.

Yes, he is. This is why I want to read The Detective.
The first chapter definitely has a feel similar to the beginning of the movie. Willis played "Leland" well.

I felt 'similar but different' all the way through the book.

I just couldn't help myself. Don't worry take your time. We are here to discuss the book. :)

Finishing Up:
The Divine Comedy
The Illuminatus! Trilogy
Tampa
"All the Real Indians Died Off": And 20 Other Myths About Native Americans
Going to Start:
The Pearl
The Age of Innocence
The Gunslinger - reread
Odd Thomas - reread
The Handmaid's Tale
One Hundred Years of Solitude
Ivanhoe
Karen Memory
Chocolat
The Second Sex
Democracy in America
These two are over the next 3 months:
The Three Musketeers
The Recognitions
I have had the Illuminatus! Trilogy for YEARS! And I mean years . . . pretty sure I bought it in 93 or 94 and I still haven't read it!
The Recognitions is pretty decent so far.
The Recognitions is pretty decent so far.

I heard it was an awesome book. Lots of time travel and things happening. I'm going to take a little longer in finishing it up because it's such a long book.
Good to hear about The Recognitions.
Gotta love the dated references - Leland's daughter makes $40,000 as the assistant to the head of an oil company!

What are you taking about Anton Gruber? It's Anton "little Tony the red" Gruber. Doesn't that nickname sound kind of Italian?
Yeah - the Little Tony nickname is distracting. Actually having a hard time really feeling his leadership like you got with Alan Rickman.
I am kind of surprised by the extensive life introspection Leland goes through every few pages. You get lots of action and suddenly . . . deep thoughts.

There for sure has a lot more thoughts that Leland is going through. About all kinds of things and how hired he is or how badly he will hurt the following day. There was a lot of that in the end of the book.

Amazed at the specifics they kept for the movie and how accurate they are - including some of the dialogue.

Just finished today - not sure if you saw my review yet.
One thing that stood out to me was his introspection on some of the terrorists being females (in the movie, they were all male- no females until Die Hard 3, and then it was just one). I feel like the idea of being concerned about the terrorists being females is a bit antiquated now.

Yeah, that is so different about all the female terrorist in the book. I wonder why they left any female terrorist in the movie. Perhaps it was how our society was in the 80s?
Another thing is the ending about his daughter. I didn't expect that part, also, who knew love cocaine so much.

Start 2017 off right with Nothing Lasts Forever by Roderick Thorp - the book the movie Die Hard is based on.
