Tarinee | 908 comments Book 61:Tigana
Format:Paperback
My rating: ★★★★

most probably my last book this year .with Main less than 2 months away , I think (but hope against ) that this probably is the last solid novel I picked for this year , And if things goes well probably a couple of months into the next year . may be I can sneak few manga volumes (onepiece ?) meantime .

This year has been great ....some beautiful recommendations from my friends ,discovered some new authors I am going to explore more ...some solid friendships forged (like a Valerian sword:)) for a life time I hope and reading goal achieved (not that it matter to me but yes happy I achieved it )

But for now
Adieu my friends :):)

Tarinee | 908 comments so long ...
50 days or so ...yet it seems so long...

I don't know about those who maintain a similar thread , but for almost a year this thread has become a place where I meet my friends ,,,this thread gives me purpose , a sense of belonging and a hope that books were not beautiful ....they still are and they will remain so for ever

when I was a kid , I used to have friends , who would fight with me for a particular story book . There were 40 or so student in our school and our class teacher would come with 40 so odd books in our library period and we could take any one book home for a week . Me and few of my friends would remain on our toe to get hand on the best book possible.

and how to decide which one is the best book ?

well the one with beautiful covers ...or a attractive name ...
words like pirates , treasure , mystery , magic , wizard were hot favorite catch words ..

I still remember getting my hand on Treasure Island.... for that particular week I was like king of the world

Overtime my friends who used to love books so much ,even fight with me for the same have drifted apart from books ..

Now,when they come to my house ... browse through my books...I eagerly wait ...hoping them to say the magic words...

"can I borrow this ...and this one too ...and this one also if you don't mind ..?"

and we will have a fight again over a book ..?

like Old time

But all that come out from them is " you still read books .. huh ..?"

Yes idiots I still read novels , poems ... because more than the story they told ... they make me remember the stories we built around books ... our blood pacts to steal a book from certain someone's cousin, our petty little scams to get hold of that extra money from our parents , catching a train to Bhubaneswar only to buy few books,,,,our master-plans to get that new kid into our gang because that kid supposed to have the complete collection of Nagraj series Raj comics ,,,, standing all day in a bookstore and reading a book because we can't afford to buy that ....

So yes I still pick a book before going to bed ,,, a few words ,,,a few lines ,,,a few pages ...

doesn't matter....

because if I stop doing that a story will die
Our story
A story for our children..

So yes this thread is more than what I have read , is reading or will be reading ....
this thread has become a part of our story....
And with time it has taken a tiny part of my soul and with it my madness , my friendship , my flaws and beauty ...

And Manju, Gorab bhai, Ab bro,Syl , Rebecca , Frost, Pranjali and all those who have suggested me books ... thank you for doing that ...

thank you for reading books ...
And there by making me read a few more...

not surprising considering your love for books :P
I didn't have many chocolates to spare ... so diplomacy was my best ally ...
but good old days :)

Tarinee | 908 comments If you can build my dreams brick by brick you will find a house with a window looking into the heart of the mountains and a shelf with few old , brown paged hard cover books , the mountain mist and a cup of coffee .

If ever a magician mistakenly vanishes me instead of a rabbit in his pointed hat , you will probably find me in the foot hills of Himalayas .I will somehow find my way to the mountains from the magic hat and surely a bookstore on my way there.

And if I am so confident of finding my way to the foothills of Himalayas from the magician's hat , rest assured , with exams over , I can manage from Delhi to the Himalayas .

With The Hungry Tide , The Shadow of the Windand Time Stops at Shamli and Other Stories in my backpack , the demand of a coffee cup every morning taken care of , a place near the window looking into the heart of the mountain promised , slightly chilling yet mood uplifting weather reported , I am on my way to Uttarakhand, Goat village and then to a friend's house , with a hope in my heart of reading late into the night while listing to the music of dusk and dawn , eavesdropping into the conversation of the trees, to see for myself if the mountains really go for a walk when they think no one is watching and may be chase after a falling star in the curvy roads of the mountain , encounter a friendly ghost if I am lost in the woods and if he/she agrees to sing that Matt Corby song together

You see I don't know where I'm running to,
It's become quite hard to see.
Theres a guilty weight on my conscience,
Of all my wrongful deeds.

It's time-ii-iime to reconcile.
It's time-ii-iime to reconcile.

Oh if I walk into the darkness I'll be lost.
If I try to stay the light will show my false...........

Tarinee | 908 comments “NOT UNTIL I MET YOU

Not until I felt your sunshine,
Did I realize that I had been in the shade.
Not until I saw all your colors,
Did I realize that mine had faded.
Not until I heard your dreams,
Did I realize that I was still sleeping.
And not until I experienced my life with you,
Did I realize that I was barely
Breathing.”

Tarinee ... envy you.
Can literally kill anyone to attain the room in your DP.. .
don't want to be a rabbit though, want to remain human and enjoy all the selfish pleasures of life. 😊
