Book 9: I'd Rather Read: Your Favourite Authors on their Favourite Booksformat : paperback :)
My rating:4 young rising stars ★★★★
“Before I fell in love with books ,I was in love with pictures .pictures of books ,pictures in books "
This book is a collection of stories of some famous authors on how they started reading ,and what they have loved reading the most .some found their favorite books in school libraries ,others found them in old forgotten bookshelves .some went away to misty hill stations and discovered ghost stories and adventure stories there.others retreated under the bed to take refuge from pesky cousins and read there in peace with a kindly grandmother standing guard
I loved the one written by Subhadra Sen Gupta the most "Hills,Bus Stop and Under the Quilt " .others are also good but I would have loved to know their current favorite books apart from the ones from their childhood .I was also expecting more from Jerry Pinto other than that poem "I'd rather read"
contributing Authors :
Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam ,Subhadra Sen Gupta,Sudha Murty,Jerry Pinto,Anita Nair,Roopa pai,Jash Sen,Ruskin Bond,Andaleed Wajid,Dr. Tanushree Singh ,Nilanjana Roy ,Satyajit Ray,Arundhati venkatesh,Deepa Agrawal :)
25% done with This Savage Song listening to an audio book .beautiful voice .
The story is very captivating , fast paced and well written and the characters are of depth (it's Schwab .not a single bad novel to her name :))
Going to finish this in one go most probably :)
Yeh .And when she(?) speaks for Fredie ,it sounds exactly like the voice of Naruto in Eng Dub ,specl in serious moments .so more reasons to like it. :)
Book 10: This Savage Songformat : Audio book with a beautiful female voice :)
My rating:3 stars ★★★
An epic setting wasted on a typical Bollywood Masala story at core .
Victoria Schwab's writing was beautiful ,I mean really really BEAUTIFUL .Even an amazing story till 80-85 % ,fast paced and griping , gone too predictable , too 80's or 90's Bollywoodish towards the end for my liking :(
may be 3.3783 stars
Now reading Norse Mythology @ 30% . An audio book with Neil Gaiman ,the author himself ,as the narrator .It's beautiful so far ,both the story and the narration.very funny :)

IncRead wrote: "You are into audio books nowadays? How come?"Audio books are a recent discovery actually . Norse mythology being my 4th .And the narrators are really really good .Credit to my roommate for providing me these .so paper back-audio book -paper back is the cycle :)
it's ebook/kindle I don't enjoy much .but these audio books are treats . so ,not complaining as long as I am enjoying them :):)

But you gave 3 star na ? and 3 star in your Red London is mostly 4 or 5 star in our White London na ?:P
@Tarinee, don't go with lot of expectaions from darker shade or you will be disappointed, especially if reading alongside WoR.

Book 12: Fortunately, the Milkformat : children's Hardcover :)
My rating:Ye tara wo tara har tara ★★★★★
My
Two things for sure
1-Gaiman loves his Milk :)
2-He can imagine some beautiful stories for children and adults alike :)
Tarinee wrote: "But you gave 3 star na ? and 3 star in your Red London is mostly 4 or 5 star in our White London na ?:P"I loved the concept of three Londons and the writing as well..guess it doesn't take much to impress me ;)
@JAYA: me too .And most importantly I kind of go with certain mind set for particular authors .For V E Schwab : the beautiful writing style and fast paced plot with some very likable and cute characters ..I have read three of her books and though they are not ground breaking in terms of story telling ,I have definitely enjoyed them a lot .
Saying That It's really Bad Idea to read any other fantasy book along with or just after Sanderson ...specially this Storm light archive series and that too the second book .This series so far comes closest to my feelings for HP ...But Close not matched Because Harry Potter is Harry Potter and Shallan is cool and cute and in second book likable but she is no HERMIONE :P
For me I try not to compare one with another even if its by the same author... and yeah keeping separate genres while you are doing parallel reads is a good idea...mix in your text books in between, you'l appreciate your fictions even more :D
Book 13: The Wolves in the Wallsformat : children's Hardcover + Gaiman audio CD:)
My rating:pyare pyare sare taren★★★★★
Ok this is a children's book I bought for my niece .But I have to read it first to make sure her mother is not going to kill me (proper children book test :P) . But seriously ,I enjoyed It myself :)
My niece loved it . Thank God ,She has good test in books :P
And if you have not yet listened to Gaiman reading one of his books ,you are missing something very important :)
@Gorab : In that case bhai Go for Norse mythology first .best book to recover from a slump .Banash tonight done ,reserved :)
13 pg ,1st ch ,promises a fun ride ..will enjoy it as long as the narration is honest and gives a true portrayal of student life /hostel life .expectations are simple : reliving the good old hostel life through the narration .finger crossed :)ABCDEFG-a boy can do everything for a girl
ghanta :P
I've finished it. How far you're into it?
Pretty straightforward. Didn't find anything worth discussing....

Book 15: Words of Radianceformat : kindle
My rating:★★★★★ , lelo sanderson ji , asman khali kardunga , sare tare tumhare , ye 4, 5 tare main kya rakha hai :P
Book 16: Virat Kohli : Reliable Rebelformat : kindle :)
My rating:★★★
very small book of 50-60 pgs but the real problem is it's written around 2014-15 and when the author was of the opinion that after Dhoni , Kohli is the most reliable batsman of India .Time has changed ,sir . But I enjoyed the short read .specially reading about his dedication and persistence and that very inspiring never say die attitude :)
Book 17: Banaras Talkiesformat : paperback :)

My rating:★★★★★ but giving even 100 stars to this book is an under rating :)
Best poem/Gazhal /Nazm I have ever read in my entire life and I have read a lot . going to read them many more times in future :)
@ Manju : koi sak ? far far far better . Let me first run and drain out all this excitement or I am going to break someone's hand or leg or at least my roommate's laptop . Over happiness /excitement disorder .you are queen of fantasy reading .so you can easily relate to this excitement of reading an epic book . let me get sober first. Milkha ji , you want some competition :P
okay.:D:D:D
and I don't read that much quantity of fantasy to be given that title. People read many more fantasy books than me. :)

Book 19:A Monster Callsformat : kindle :)
My rating:★★★★★ stars that I can SEE from my apartment window every night :)
one of those sad yet beautiful stories , which makes you feel , people giving it even 4 stars are heartless :P
A story that is definitely going to stay a long time with me :)
beautiful premise , unique presentation and a heartbreaking story at the center of it all .
This story has stories in it and those stories have questions. Questions that will make you uncomfortable .Questions whose answers ,if honest , are not pretty .If honest, are too difficult , too heavy a burden to bear .
Questions that are best unanswered .Questions if you are ever asked , lying will be an act of kindness and truth a brutality
Do we love our close ones enough to actually wish them to move away from us if it would stop the other person from suffering?
What is love ? is it selfish or selfless ? can it be both ?
Does the bullied kid in the playground actually crave to be bullied everyday, because that's the only time people ever notice him, as he is so invisible otherwise ?
does this book give an honest answer ? Or does it prefer to be a fairy tale instead that you can find solace in , even though at heart you know you are being lied .
why are you still reading my review ? If you are a friend , you might have known by now I don't do spoilers .I don't give anything about the story in my reviews .
So go , order and read it .read it ten times :)
Thank you Manju for this lovely recomm :)

It’s not perfect, it’s not the best thing Wodehouse ever wrote – but it will make you laugh out loud, smile from ear to ear, and generally put you in a more kindly frame of mind towards the world. And what more do you really want from a comic novel ?
