Read Rest Repeat :what I will be reading when not reading a text book

Started with Bisesar Bo. Loved it. The title is enigmatic and makes more sense after reading the story ;)
Loved the accent. Couldn't recognise which type of Hindi was that.
Will read roommate today.

Had to struggle with many Hindi terminologies. And it was so refreshing to see contemporary writing in that style.

Is this poetry in the same book? Lovely!
I wish all the stories have different accents. Have been trying to find a book with Hyderabadi accent Hindi but so far unable to....

did someone mention litti chokha ?! :)
Hope you read more lovely and beautiful books :).Happy reading!

I have seen it used properly in a movie "Laxmi" .Very brave movie .But yet to find it in a book. "Room mate" is written in common Hindi . I would also like to read a few other variation of Hindi :may be a bit Haryanvi .but I think Choudhary is a title you see a lot in Bihar .so I think Anu singh choudhary either belongs to or may be her in laws are from Bihar .she picked the folk song properly too(a common one that req native expertise) .Else she had done a good amount of research
Seen and loved Laxmi. But the accent was not as prominent as in the film Angrez. May be bcoz of the heavy topic.
I've found some variations in Hindi in a couple of dialogues here or there. Haven't found a full account in a different dialect.

Read RoomMate and liked it more than Bisesar Bo.
Read Do not Disturb in between and didn't like it much.
Overall enjoying this book. The 3 stories so far were all crisp and different flavours.

I have finished 'cigarette ka akhri kash' and 'dekhbaki' . liked both of them ( 'dekhbaki' a little more than the other) .More so as both stories are based in Delhi and I know the places (Basant Bihar ,Kisan ganj and Priya Complex) they talk about.
I find a certain familiarity with the characters Anu singh chooses for her stories .As if I know them personally and their dilemma ,the way they perceive things ,their perspective towards life ,their ambition ,goal ,frustration , achievements ,their struggle and indifference for certain aspects sab kafi niji lagti hai .
Going to read 'marj zindegi ilaj zindegi' and 'Hath ki lakire' tonight
Agreed about the different flavor each story provide .I am surely going to send a fan mail to Anu singh after finishing this book .she surely deserves lots of praise for this book :) :)

(Jamshedpur) litti chokha happens to be a favourite among people including myself:) and it's such a delight especially in the winters!!:)
Happy reading along with happy eating !! :):)
Didn't like cigarette ka aakhri kash. Loved Dekhbaki. And yeah the characters are very familiar. You've expressed it wonderfully.
Litti Chokha - Enjoyed it once with office team when we went on a picnic and cooked litti on dried dung cakes :)
Find it somewhat similar to Dal Baati. Though they have their significant differences.

ye bat phitrat ki bhi hai .chocolate sab ko acha lagta hai.Ab ye ap ki marji ki pura chocolate ek hi bar main khalo ya phir ek hi tukda har roj khaya jaye .ek main bachpan ki masumiyat aur impulsiveness hai to dusre main self control ka maturity .to ye apka decision hai ki apka ji kya chah ta hai ?
janha tak mera khud ka sabal hai ........

No I don't feel like reading all in a shot. Who will help then to balance between other heavy and sometimes boring reads :P :P
Have read Sahyatri and the title story Neela Scarf.
Loved these two better than all the previous ones. Especially Neela Scarf. Very nice writing.
With 3 stories left, I'd rate this much above Interpreter of Maladies by jhumpa Lahiri. I felt much more connected to these stories.

Read another one and needless to say loved it too. So I see the mixture from bachelor lives, to singles with break ups, to newly wed expecting couples, to teenage child problems.... relations between master and servant, doctor and patient, roommates, colleagues...
All in just 12 crisp stories. What a great mix!

sahayatri was good . little error in use of Odia language , still loved that it was used in a book that has already become my favorite . also loved the mention of other books (premchand and others) in the story .I am tempted to read premashram now :)
Haan wo Premchand wala part was funny. Have to read Premashram and Rangbhumi from the mentioned ones :P

My rating: 5 beautiful bright stars whose lights are not going to fade for million light years to come ★★★★★
Are you paying attention?
Good.
If you are not reading carefully, you will miss things. Important things.
I Love crime novels the most
I hate crime novels the most
so if you recommend me one you entitle yourself to two distinct possibilities ...either we are going to end up best of pals for the rest of our life or you are going to end up with a broken nose ...most probably being hit by the same book you recommend me:P
Nothing makes me more happy than a well written crime thriller /mystery /detective novel where the plot can test my intelligence and reasoning to the limit (in this case ..yeh..we are best pals now) .And when I talk about my intellegence ,reasoning and deduction power you can call me Sherelock and it will be a complement for the old sleuth of Baker street :P .By same means nothing makes me more angry** than a crime thriller where you can see it coming miles before the climax (here ..I am not even sorry for your broken nose :P)
This particular book is 437.36754% 'now-you-are-my- best- friend- for -recommending- this- hell -of -a -book' type book .
About the book
A psychological thriller, this book is the first in the Lacey Flint series. Lacey Flint is a young inexperienced detective on the hunt for a Jack Ripper copycat. Though set in modern day London there's tasty Gothic undertones and trust my words nobody gives you the urge to check over your shoulder quite like Jack. May be that's why at the bottom of the cover-page of the book it's written "Keep telling yourself it's only fiction " . A much needed warning .The murders are violent ,gore and graphic . But this book is more than jack . much Darker , much more crueler and a book you should keep miles away from the ones not of age or from ones who are very sensitive or easily disturbed .
saying that there are enough lite moments , witty one liners and genuine feeling police procedural .Actualy police procedural is the part where Bolton nailed it to perfection .So,yes ,the book is way more darker from my general reads but taking even a star off for that will be an injustice to this book .
Now you decide
*Stan Lee, Jack Kirby got the idea of Hulk when they chance to see me angry once :P

format : A beautiful 60th anniversary edition Hardcover :)
My rating: 2 stars ★★
For my friends :
"when we met for the first time,it was a sunny day .
the heaven smiling and spreading the warmth.
The warmth of our smile .The warmth of our heart.
when we will be separated ,let it rain.
let the heaven cry .let it be damp and cold .
let it reflect the moods our hearts, that will never beat in a rhythm again.
mine will always miss a beat for you and your's a couple for me. because my friend, God knows you have always loved me more than I could love you back."
for the book:
I loved the words ..so simple and powerful
I loved the lines..most beautiful I have ever read
I loved the paragraphs..they spoke to my heart
I loved the chapters.they stirred memories of a beautiful village , an innocent childhood and of friendships you can trade a kingdom for
But I didn't like the story
for rusty:
The story is about Rusty
He thinks beautifully about friendship
He speaks beautifully about friendship
yet he doesn't know friendship
This story is about him
I didn't like him
I didn't like his story
for Ruskin Bond:
Giving two star to this book is heart breaking
But nobody dies out of heart break
so,I will survive
To read another book by Bond
To again fall in love with his work
To again visit that beautiful Room on the roof
In some other story ..in some other book
when there is no Rusty in that room but only Bond..Ruskin bond ,my favorite author :)
:O
seriously heart wrenching for a 60th anniv hardcover edition!
Glad for the honest review in spite of your Bond love.
"yet he doesn't know friendship" :O
