Sarah | 18550 comments Oh and big ears on the back. But that's for another day.

message 2352: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments Thanks Sandra. We've stuck with the boat's original colours. We only changed the red strip on the back which was white and everything else is the same.

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments Nicer with fresh red looks sharp.

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments Went to Lowe's looking for the biggest refrigerator at best price today. Just needed a new one for barn so basically just cost driven. I looked at every single one they had just cubic feet and price. Which is cheapest per cubic foot. While I could have actually found a cheaper one I found a stainless steel French door freezer on bottom 24.6 cu. Ft. One for $750. Originally $2100 then down to $1400 now $750. Are you serious. Sold. Had a couple dents and a huge scratch right across front. No one wants this for a house. Basically it's been hanging out until someone came in looking for a fridge for their garage or in my case barn. Best deal I ever got. We saved a little buying a floor model washing machine which was flawless. We saved some money buying a scratched oven which the scratch was on the side which is blocked by cupboards. This is the worst scratched appliance I've seen and the best deal I've gotten we really like the scratch and dent appliances saves us lots of money and usually are so minor if they didn't have a sign showing it we would never have known to begin with

Sandra (sanlema) | 11298 comments It is a good deal, Travis. We got a chest freezer for the basement in a similar way a few years ago. I don't remember the price, but the scratch wasn't that bad. It works great. Actually, one night my kids left the door open after getting popsicles. I only realized the following morning. I almost killed someone, but the freezer kept working perfectly. That was 3 or 4 years ago.

Kristie | 19326 comments Good luck with the interview and job applications, Peggy! Not a fun process to go through, but hopefully you'll find something great.

The boat looks great, Sarah! Looks like a lot of work, but it is certainly paying off.

I just returned from adult summer camp. Well, technically, I still need to drive home tomorrow, but summer camp is done. It was such a blast. I'm exhausted and my body is sore, but we really had so much fun. We slept in a cabin and ate in a hall together with other campers. We played all sorts of camp games and activities, such as archery, arts & crafts, doctor ball (dodgeball with wet sponges where one person is the "doctor" and can unfreeze the people that get hit), also hungry hippos with human "hippos". They also have a rock climbing and ropes course, canoes and kayaks, hammocks, ping pong, giant jenga, corn hole, and so much more. We had a pool party, a bonfire, a talent show... so much crammed into one weekend! I can definitely feel it now. lol

Janice (jamasc) | 60075 comments I love the new paint job on your boat, Sarah! It looks great.

Good job on getting a deal, Travis! I shall have to keep my eyes open for scratches or floor models when I go shopping for a freezer. I'm always up for a deal.

Sounds like a great weekend Kristie :)

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments Your boat is looking good, Sarah!

Sounds like you had a fun weekend, Kristie!

message 2361: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments Thanks guys! We are now floating again. We were up at the crack of dawn to be refloated and I cruised the boat to where we're going to be for the next 2 weeks by myself as my partner had to get to work. I am knackered now especially as I had no sleep last night because it was so hot. It was nearly 30C here yesterday and didn't drop below 19C outside over night. When I went to bed it was 26C in the boat. This whole week is looking to be the same.

Your weekend sounds fab Kristie. And you sure did pack a lot in to the weekend.

Excellent saving Travis!

Glad you are floating again, Sarah. It's been so hot lately hasn't it? I got no sleep last night either. I managed to burn my knees, my chest and the tops of my feet yesterday, despite sitting under a parasol all day! They are so sore :( I think it's meant to be hot up until Thursday and then it's meant to get a bit cooler and fresher.

message 2363: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Same here. Temps around 30 C all week.

I got another job interview invitation, yay! I wonder if they forgot about me though. The deadline for applying was almost 3 weeks ago, and I contacted one of the people in the vacancy last week to ask, no reply. Contacted someone else this morning, and 2 hours later I get a phone call inviting me for an interview.

Sarah | 18550 comments Ouch Lisa! I try to stay out of the sun after a bad experience when I was younger. I do get caught out occasionally but I spend a lot of time outside so I think I've got more used to sun exposure now compared to then.

Good luck with all the job stuff Peggy. I must have missed your post.

Just seen that there's been another terror attack in London. I don't know all the details but it looks like it was British attacker targeting Muslims this time.

message 2365: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments It's been quite hit here the past week with real high humidity over the weekend. Had a series of thunderstorms roll through yesterday which seems to have cleared out the humidity and dropped temps to more reasonable levels.

I have literally just heard about the latest terror attack. Very sad :(

message 2368: by Margo (new)

Margo | 11668 comments It is very sad Lisa but I think somehow inevitable. I hope it not the start of "tit for tat" style attacks :(

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments Margo wrote: "It is very sad Lisa but I think somehow inevitable. I hope it not the start of "tit for tat" style attacks :("

The way things are currently, I think it was inevitable too. Unfortunately, it could well be the start of "tit for tat" attacks. Islamic State have reportedly already been using this latest attack to try and incite Muslims to carry out further attacks on non-Muslims. There is a very rocky road ahead I reckon.

message 2370: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19326 comments Thanks guys. :) It was a very fun weekend. I couldn't keep up that pace all the time time though. A weekend was just enough.

Sarah, great that your boat is back in the water!

Peggy, congrats on the job interview again! Your persistence paid off. Hope you get get the job.

Lisa, ouch! That burn sounds bad. I hope you're able to stay out of the sun today. Use lots of lotion to keep it moist.

I haven't heard about the new attacks. I haven't read or seen the news for a few days. I feel like they are happening more and more often. It's so sad.

message 2371: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments And another one! Well, not really a job interview, but more of an introduction meeting. I wrote an application letter which is not for a specific vacancy but the one you write to a company when they have no vacancies (no idea what this is called in English) to this organisation I visited a few weeks ago to get an idea of the kind of work they do. The lady I talked to advised me to write such a letter if I was interested in working there, which I did, and now I got an email inviting me for a meeting.

Both this one and the one I got this morning were scheduled for next week, when I'm on my holidays. I rearranged the one this morning, I hope it will work for this one too.

This is confusing, as Lowe's here is a discount men's clothing store who's ads are old Rugby players yelling at you.

Oh no Lisa! Water and aloe vera!!

message 2374: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19221 comments Yeah the attack happened at 9.30am our time, so I've been waiting for the UK to wake up to hear. Pretty much some guy drove a van into people leaving Ramadan prayers at midnight.

As Muslims can't eat until the sun goes down, some people gather to break the fast together and then pray before going home to sleep (before getting up before sunrise to eat again). Seems that this guy (or guys depending on the report) drove into the crowd leaving after prayers to go home to bed.

Just horrid.

I'm just waiting for some aloe vera aftersun gel to arrive. I had to order some because we didn't have any in the house :(

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19221 comments None at the supermarket or chemist? Travisty! I also have two plants now. As a white skinned, redhead in Aus, it's so much easier to grow your own and take a small leaf and scrape it to get the gel as needed.

Rusalka, Lowes here is a huge building with everything you need for home repairs and upkeep.

That is just horrible. I feel so sorry for the victims of the attack.

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19221 comments I'm off to Adelaide tomorrow (or Radelaide if you are an Aussie). I'll be back on Sunday, but sorry if I am even more quiet than usual. I am hoping life is a bit more normal when I come back.

I'll be hanging out with friends, going on wine tours, eating yummy food, and seeing Matilda the musical. Just in case anyone felt sorry for me ;) I haven't been to Adelaide before, so I am hoping it will be fun, and I will have lots of time to read on the planes.

Lisa - I hope everything goes well at your appointment.
Anne- I hope you're feeling better.
Sarah - The boat looks great. I really like the color combination.
I heard about the attack in London while I was in the airport yesterday. That's just awful! There are far too many terrible things happening in the world lately!

I've been away from everything for 5 or 6 days, so I'm just now catching up. My mother-in-law passed away after a car accident. It's been an awful week.

Laura (Lclwags) (lclwags) | 698 comments You're right Travis. Not something anyone wants to think about, but it's necessary. My takeaway from this experience, besides reminding me that any day can be our last, was that everyone should have an envelope for their next of kin with any vital information. I'm sure there are still things we've missed.

I was reading about one of these just a few days ago! It sounds like so much fun!! There is one about 3 hours away from at the end of summer. If I had friends that would be willing to go with me I would so be there. But alas, most of my good friends are parents now and their priorities have changed. They would enjoy something like this, but wouldn't actually go.

KimeyDiann | 2174 comments @Rus, your Adelaide trip sounds wonderful. Have a safe and fun time! BTW, Adelaide is just one of those words that is fun to say. I love it. LOL.

@Sarah, the boat is looking great!

@Laura, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Healing thoughts to you and your family.

@Lisa, hope your sunburn is doing better. A cool cloth soaked in witch hazel helps take the sting out and heal faster. Follow up with lots of aloe.

Travis, I hope you and any other dad's in our group had a great father's day this weekend!

message 2396: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19326 comments Laura - Sorry for the loss of your mother-in-law. That's just awful.

Kimey - I was hoping we'd have more friends to go with us, but it didn't work out that way. It was still a lot of fun. There were a lot of people that went by themselves, just like kids going to summer camp, and they made plenty of friends there. It is a great atmosphere where everyone was inclusive and supportive. There was such a positive energy.

@Lisa, I always have a big supply of aloe. I seem to always burn myself when baking.

I'm FINALLY over my stomach bug. Clyde was sick yesterday as well - poor kitty. But we're both as right as rain today. :)
