Watcha Doin' - 2017.1 edition

I agree, not much can make me get out of bed early, at least on a daily basis. If it's something we're doing occasionally I don't really mind. I have a class coming up that I need to attend for 4 Saturdays and I need to leave the house by 6:30am. It's going to be awful for me, but I will look forward to listening to a book in the car.

I tried going to the gym right after work and even quit that after 3 months or so. I bought a pass for a year.
I really should be doing some sports though.

Evidently I had an epiphany in my sleep one night because all these things just happened I didn't plan or really think about doing any of it. Other than turned 35 years old. It was right after my birthday I started things for some reason. The agriculture environment isn't too good financially. I spent a lot last fall at chiropractors because my back hip ankles all were bothering me. I don't know I think I just realized all of a sudden life can be more enjoyable but it's up to me to decide to make some change

I just listened to her speech regarding the 5 second rule thanks to your suggestion. It is really interesting. I'll listen to the TED talk this evening when I'm not at work. I find that I definitely fall into the "I don't feel like it" trap she talked about. Or even worse than the I-don't-fee-like-it, I have the "I'll do it later" thoughts a LOT. Of course, later often doesn't come.
I keep telling myself I'm going to start working out and stick to it, but then I have the "I don't feel like it" thought, which is just part of a vicious cycle. Not being active and taking care of yourself will make you feel worse, and therefore makes you not feel like working out, which makes you feel worse and so on.
I'm so glad I'm waiting on someone else before I can move on to the next task at work right now. It gave me time to log into GR and see these posts which are inspiring me to give myself a nice kick in the rear to stop putting things off! I needed this! I'm working out tonight and starting back down the path I set for myself at the beginning of the year.

At least in (most) self-help/inspirational books and speeches, it convinces you to make positive changes in your life.

He usually finishes too ten. Last time he was first place for 87 miles then finished 2nd

I am under "house arrest". Influenza. I am working for home this week, trying to keep that nasty thing to myself. I rarely get sick but this one got me. 4 days of fever. I am over that now but I am a tad tired. At least I get to work in my pj's. and I do have a good excuse to indulge sitting down with a hot drink and a book.

We are kindred spirits Laura. THIS!

Entirely agree. I am so very much with you, my metabolism went from over active to nothing. So my problem was I never needed an exercise habit as I was always a slip of a thing no matter what I ate or did. And then something happened, and I started putting on weight, and I didn't know how to deal with it. Good on you with your strength training and habit setting! Will check out the talk too.

Okay, so I have to confess.... I didn't exercise last night. But I have a legit excuse for why I didn't feel like it! I had a bad headache and had to take meds and go to bed. So I'm not looking at it as failing in my goal for yesterday, that was out of my control. Today is a new day!
I'm like Rusalka, I was always very thin (too thin actually), but the older I get the slower my metabolism gets. I'm still thin by most people's standards, but I have to be aware of how I eat and how active I am now when I in years past I never had to worry about it. It has been an adjustment that I'm still struggling with.

Good luck with the interview Peggy. Sounds like you're in the right mindset for it already :-)
Sorry to hear you've been unwell Esther. As Travis said, the flu has been bad this year.
I've been ill this week but I'm not sure what the problem is. I had a fever on Monday and nausea. The nausea is the worst I've ever had. I had to lay down most of Monday and Tuesday as if I sat up or stood up I couldn't handle it and it almost made me faint when I stood up once. It's eased off since then but it's affected my appetite a great deal which is VERY unlike me. I hate being ill.

Go tell them Peggy! And all the best!!

Hope you feel better soon Sarah!

Just realized that panty might mean different things depending on where you live. To clarify, I don't have a hole in my underwear, but in the thin thight-like thing you were under a skirt when it's not yet summer.

I'm not sure if you mean a petticoat/slip or tights.

Sounds like a great idea, Sarah. Great exercise and a good way to enjoy being outside.

Sorry Sandra... got my wires crossed. Thought, for a moment, you were talking about underwear and was about to type a confused answer
*Note to self: Concentrate

@Sarah - I'm pretty sure 'panty' / 'pantyhose' means 'tights' to the likes of you and me. Let's not get started on fannypacks vs bumbags etc (lol)

Could be public speaking, meeting someone new etc. etc

The switch from rowing to cycling is actually a terrific idea and a heck of a lot cheaper than a gym membership

Good luck, Peggy!

I would like a dog someday but I don't really like the thought of having to get up 30 minutes earlier in the morning and taking him out. Again, probably not so bad in summer, but winter...
I think my brother-in-law often gets up at 5am just to go to the gym before work. My sister got up an hour early for work for a while so she could watch another episode of The Walking Dead on Netflix. There isn't much to get me out of bed early.
