Kristie | 19323 comments Oh good! I tried to repost it in there, but it still won't show up for me. I'm glad you can see it though. :)

Can't see the pic because of the firewall security at my work place, but I am glad you could rescue it.

Your post reminded me that I saw a jack rabbit run across the road early Sunday morning on my drive through eastern Washington. I had been thinking about how nice it was not to have to worry about deer running out in front of the cars and - flash - there it was. I have seen coyotes on the side of the road before, but never any rabbits. It is usually so lifeless out there.

Kristie | 19323 comments My house abuts conservation land so we have a lot of squirrels, rabbits, and deer. We will often see deer, sometimes by the dozen in yards in our neighborhood. I'm so sad that my animals (2 dogs and a cat) have taken to chasing the bunnies. It's not something that is going to be easy to prevent.

Sarah | 18550 comments That's so cute Kristie. Great you were able to save it. Let's hope your pets don't make a habit of playing with them.

message 1405: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19323 comments I know! It's the second time. I hope they don't make a habit of it. It's so sad.

message 1408: by Joan (new)

Joan I need some information from someone in the U.K. or western Europe:
We school children being taught about building fallout shelters at home around 1975?
I'm reading a memoir by a woman born in 1970, who claims she was was, and I find it hard to believe as they were not an issue here in the U.S. by then.

message 1409: by Margo (new)

Margo | 11668 comments Some people on this of the pond were into that in late 70s. Survival types. They were few and far between! There very little room around uk or ireland for "compounds" so our doomsday believes stock their fallout shelters. There are also some bunkers left from the war.

Mariab | 3059 comments LIFE IS HARD and more so when you lost a year of data because your computer has suffered an accident... (backup, I had, but an monumental error has delete it -which I was going to correct, but have posponed...)
:-((((((((((((((

message 1412: by Joan (new)

Joan Oh Mariab, I am so sorry for your trouble, that is awful. Any chance a computer whiz can save some of it? They can sometimes find things that have been deleted.

They tried, but sayed it's hopeless, unless I can find a computer god... nothing to do (other than do it ALL again...)
Ok, that will teach me not to postpone important things anymore

message 1421: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments 90 minutes of swing dance lessons. My wife is kind of dancing I'm awkwardly gyrating. Lol. We didn't take a class we just you tubed lessons on the smart TV and tried our best

message 1422: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11297 comments Sounds like fun, Travis. :D

message 1423: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments The wife and I are off to dinner and comedy night. Annual fundraiser for the hospital. Last year they had a national comedian. I have no clue who the two guys tonight are. Could be national could be super small time. As long as they're funny

message 1424: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I just realised that the coming 5 weeks, instead of working the regularly 5 days a week, I only need to work 4, 4, 4, 3 and 4 days. Mostly due to national holidays and the university being very considerate in that (some are not official in the sense that all companies close, but uni is closed on those days. And when the holiday is on a Thursday, you get Friday off too). I'll miss that when I get a new job!

And after those weeks there are 2 normal weeks, then again 3 and 4 days, 3 normal weeks, and holidays!

Seems like we have a lot of national holidays but I think it's less than neighbouring countries. It's just that except for christmas (and carnaval if you live in the south) they all happen to be in april, may and june.

message 1425: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19221 comments I thought I was doing well with three 4 day weeks in a row. Nice Peggy! Enjoy.

Your "dance lessons" sound fantastic, Travis. Hope you had a good night out, with a good bunch of comedians.

message 1426: by KimeyDiann (new)

KimeyDiann | 2174 comments When do you go for the interview, Peggy? I'm glad to hear your disappointing email was quickly followed by a promising one!

@Janice, congrats on becoming an official employer! That will have to be a huge weight off of your shoulders having someone help out with those tasks.

@Travis, definitely a great boss! And I'm so impressed by your impromptu dance class! The only way I can get my husband to dance with me at all is if we are home alone, shots are involved, rap music, and there's a promise of clothing coming off in the process. LOL.

@Kristie, I can't see the picture, but I'm very glad you were able to save the bunny. We have a family of rabbits that hang out in our back yard in the evenings/nights. My dogs tend to be oblivious to them most of the time which amazes me. The bunnies run away as soon as they see us though.

message 1427: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments The comedians were great. The first guy really you need to be in the crowd to enjoy him he interacts and works the crowd a lot. The second guy was just hilarious. Kevin Downey Jr. I'll add the YouTube link if you want to experience him

message 1428: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments That sucks losing your data Mariab. I'm backing up every day at the moment as i suspect my laptop is on it's way out.

Nice one on the dancing Travis. Will you be doing it again? I had to laugh at Kimey's way to get her husband dancing.

I had an awesome 4 days on my course. I have come back with a weird virus though. I had a temperature yesterday and nausea. I'm a bit better today but I'm not going in to work.

So sorry! LOL.

Hope you feel better, Sarah!

I love the spring weather, the flowers and trees blooming, but my allergies hate it. I had to go out of town for work last week and started getting a sinus infection while I was there. I didn't have any of my remedies for when I feel that starting, so I ended up with full on sinus misery before the end of the week. I'm mostly over it now, but my stupid nose won't quit running. It's driving me crazy!

It's good exercise! I wear a pedometer to get a health insurance discount and the days I go dancing with friends always have the highest step count.

I was looking up a video of a co-worker of mine for you Travis to share. She's an Australian champion swing dancer. I found one, but it answers your question more directly. Cathie is in the orange. Wait for the couple after her, with the lady in the purple. That's what the benefit of doing this will be, that street cred.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYkv0...

Apologies for the quality of the video.

message 1435: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I love that couple with the lady in purple. I really wish I will live life like that when I'm that age.

That looks like so much fun! I need to get more active so I can be moving like that when I'm the age of the lady in purple!

message 1437: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments That looks great! Oh, and that lady in purple is fantastic!

message 1438: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19323 comments That looks fun, Rusalka, and challenging. The lady in purple reminded me of a funny story... I recently went on an "easy" hike led by an older woman. At the beginning of the hike I mentioned that I hope I'm in as good shape as this woman is when I'm her age. About half way through the hike I realized I'm already not in as good shape as she is! She was moving so quickly through the trails and didn't look like it was any effort at all. I need to get in gear if I'm going to be moving at all when I'm older.

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments Oh my wife has given me a list of benefits. One is it helps decrease the risk of dementia. I'll check the video when I get plugged into some juice. Battery is pretty low right now

message 1440: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments They are all awesome in that video, the lady in purple more so. It does indeed look fun.

message 1442: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments Our dancing looked nothing like the video

message 1443: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I'm sure you will look like that with some practice Travis!

Or were you much better perhaps already? ;-)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19221 comments Cathie's off on maternity leave at the moment, but she had started up a swing-fit class (like Zumba for salsa dancing) last year that looked heaps of fun. I have always wanted to swing dance, although that Lindyhop stuff seems pretty full on, so it may have been a good slow start before flipping over peoples heads. But the class was at 6am at work, and I don't believe in mornings.

message 1446: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments 6 am?! Any time in the morning with a 6 or lower in it is middle of the night for me.

message 1447: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19221 comments I'm still convinced 9am is a mass delusion.

Janice (jamasc) | 60073 comments Rusalka wrote: "But the class was at 6am at work, and I don't believe in mornings. "

At least not without a couple cups of coffee.

message 1449: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19323 comments I would never make it to a 6am class either. I'm not that kind of person.

message 1450: by KimeyDiann (new)

KimeyDiann | 2174 comments I would love to be the kind of person that works out in the mornings, but I just can't make myself get up any earlier than I already do! I have to get out of bed by 5:40am in order to get all of the dogs fed and walked and myself ready to be on time for work.
