Jaya | 5078 comments finished Magic Breaks: full 5/5 stars and with that the 100 count is complete

:D Full 5 stars to your reading year.... and the "not counting" seems feasible in your case. Why waste *so much* effort there!

Wanted to include a graphic novel in my current reads. Not able to decide which one....

message 263: by Jaya (new)

Jaya | 5078 comments only read 20 of 200 pages as of now. artwork is good but in black and white... hoping its is spooky/creepy enough if one is to believe the reviews

message 264: by Jaya (new)

Jaya | 5078 comments Acquired
Love Goes to Buildings on Fire: Five Years in New York That Changed Music Forever and Rock Music: Culture, Aesthetics, and Sociology amidst the vacation hiatus. So what's the big deal?
Got it from The Strand Bookstore, NY. Feeling thrilled would be a too mild a word to describe how I felt no discreet tears were shed on this visit nor was yours truly dragged away from the store.
So one bookstore crossed off my bucket list.

Magic Shifts, over and done with. I don't really know what i felt after I finished the book. Being disappointed for sure...rest am not ready to explore yet :-[

Also read a few toddlers books with my 2+ year old neice. Those were great fun! Mostly 4 starred.

message 281: by Jaya (last edited May 15, 2017 07:35PM) (new)

Jaya | 5078 comments Finished
Elon Musk: Inventing the Future...phewww... 3.5 starred for me. I was not the right reader/spectator to appreciate the lives of such people. So it was more of, its-not-you-but-me problem

Also finished a short Poiroit mystery, The Chocolate Box: A Short Story 2-meh-stars

Gorab (itsgorab) | 3765 comments Mod
Glad you finished and rated it 3+
Felt your interest wading off in the middle when it got too technical.
Are you going to review it?
Last week. Happy vacationing :)

message 287: by Jaya (new)

Jaya | 5078 comments Thanks and you are absolutely right. I had to push myself to finish it. It was too technical and even the business aspect of the take overs, change of head and who was who was beyond my retaining power
So no review really, i dont have the know-how to do that.

Thanks!! Just one more day infact then back to same old :-/

Jaya | 5078 comments a friend suggested that i should work out the playlists that accompany each book while am reading it... not a bad idea, though my music has usually nothing to do with the book.
Let me try.
Current reading log:
Butterfly in Amber: 40% (Foo Fighter-Pretenders, Everlong, Headwires)

Hangwoman (Steven Wilson-Collecting Space; Pain of Salavation- Dryad of Woods, Undertow)

Yes i can imagine, but old habits...
I listen to only instrumentals if i need to concentrate really hard on something while working/studying.

Jaya | 5078 comments succumbed to temptation and joined the GR reading challenge. Target is 200 this time as compared to 150 of last year.
currently 111/200 books
Pages red: 25813
How to calculate the average rating for a year? i wish GR would reflect that in the stats

message 299: by Gorab, TheGunman (new)

Gorab (itsgorab) | 3765 comments Mod
They do publish our highest, lowest and average rating for an year when the year ends. Can't check it in between.

Songs with any lyrics? Can't even read then.
Used to listen to instrumentals while reading. It doesn't helps now.
Only combination which still works is Interstellar soundtrack while reading Sapce Odyssey series or any science fiction.
Ready Player One ;)
