by S.L. Jennings this month.

Love. Sex. Magic.

Before her 20th birthday, Gabriella was pretty much clueless about all three. In love with her best guy friend since the age of 14 and too crass and intimidating for most of the male population of Colorado Springs, love and good sex were virtually a myth.

And then there’s magic. Freakin’ magic. There’s no way that legend could have a place in her less than exciting life. So why after twenty years of utter obscurity do her adopted parents hit her with the ton of bricks that is her true identity? And how the heck is she supposed to accept all this and become what she was truly created to be?

Lucky for Gabs, sexy as sin Dorian is more than equipped to help her embrace these new revelations. And while everything about him feels oh so good, she soon learns that there’s more behind his crystal blue eyes, chiseled body and exotic beauty. Something dark, menacing and downright unnatural. Yet Gabs is in way too deep to even try to turn away from him now.

Dark Light, Book 1 of the Dark Light Series, is the raw, emotional story of a young woman’s journey of self-discovery in a world that was not meant for her. And her scorching hot, lip-biting addiction for the man she can’t deny, no matter the cost.
*Contains strong adult content.

I read the series whe nit was first released. I LOVE it! Also it sets it up for another series Born Sinners which is this authors new series, has some of the same characters.

Marilyn | 25 comments I'll be reading it as well...been awhile since I read a supernatural type book. Sounds really good.

message 5: by Dee (new)

Dee | 851 comments Excellent. I have had it on my To-Read list for so long. I was supposed to use it for my challenge last year but didn't get to it. Now is the time.

message 6: by Dee (new)

Dee | 851 comments Started briefly last night, eager to continue. Where is everyone else up to?

message 7: by Dee (new)

Dee | 851 comments I am struggling through the middle section. I feel the last 50 pages were not necessary, hoping it will pick up in the last 100 pages. Any thoughts?

message 8: by Lulu (new)

Lulu (lulufritz) | 785 comments I started it yesterday. I'm about 40% in and so far I am not loving it.
Gabriella hasn't really impressed me yet. She doesn't really seem to be in a hurry to know more about her situation.
I feel like Dorian is still mostly a mystery and a little bit of a stalker. I'm not sure that I like him.

Dee | 851 comments I agree Lulu. The focus of the book was definitely not on magic. I started book 2 to see where it is going but am struggling to read it too.

I finished it a few days ago. I kind of want to see whether or not I like the second one better.

Is there more magic in what you have read so far?

message 11: by Dee (new)

Dee | 851 comments I haven't had much time to read lately so I think I am 50 pages in. From memory it had a bit more back story but I'm still not wowed.

Lulu (lulufritz) | 785 comments Good to know. Thanks.

Krissy | 71 comments Finished this morning and not happy :(
I gave it a 2* I didn't hate it but disappointed.
(view spoiler) Gabriella was suppose to be this tough young woman who will become this ultimate power force of magic. She was so weak and frustrating that it made me upset! The author kept that big fat elephant in the room through 99% of the book. Gabriella's inner voice kept telling her about all the dangers...but oh well...I'm having too much fun and I don't want to believe anything that my eyes and ears are telling me. (view spoiler) Magic? No magic. Oh wait, the light bulb, lol! I like my paranormal stories to have action...this was boring. I haven't decided if I will carry on with this series. I'm actually more interested in her parents story.

Dee | 851 comments I agree. I am torn with whether to continue too.
