don't worry, you'll come back with a vengeance and leave us all behind. ;)

A week has gone by and I read three books.*pats herself*
Heat and Captive by Penny Reid. These are book number two snd three in Elements of Chemistry series. Short books. While second was likable and fun, I didn't like third. Same old story of I want to be your friend before they realize that they can't be friends. They love each other too much.
Third book that I read was Sacred by Dennis Lehane. It is also third book in the Kenzie and Gennaro series. While it was full of twist and turn and surprising, it was not as good as its predecessor which intense, dark, shocking and brutal.
Still reading The Fifth Season. Around 65%, will definitely wrap this one in this week.

I recall liking the first one..thought the other parts would be different from the rest but yeah same old same old
Finally managed to finish summer and fifth season. they've been sitting comfortably on my CR for more than a month.
The Summer that Melted everything has been picked for me on more than two occasion and I had to read it. couldn't postpone it anymore. started as kids' books it ended up on such a deep note. felt on verge of tears many times. Not an easy book to read but if you made it to the ends, its worth it.
Fifth Season fulfills two of my goals and am glad that I picked this book. though I don't have fond memories of Jemisin's Inheritance trilogy, this book was an amazing read. Jemisin's has a knack of doing things when it comes to mythology. she has done a wonderful job here too. moreover, she has created a world that quaking constantly. A must read for every sci-fi fan.
starting Like Water for Chocolate tonight. Also planning to resume Idiot from next week.
and starting Every Dead Thing from Monday.

Finished Like Water for Chocolate. With this book I crossed 10k+ pages. Also this book has helped me in two of my goal list i.e. stand alone and translation. it was a short, easy and lovely book.

very small book kya? you guys finishing it off so jaldi jaldi

Cool! I'v added it on my TBR. Will use it for the challenges...

Nice pace, but don't know whether to laugh or cry...reading it."
ohh? what does one make of that?!
Couldn't concentrate on one book yesterday. -_-
first picked Every Dead Thing, read four chapters. Then switched to Days of Blood and Starlight which failed to grab my attention. then started reading Neanderthal Marries Human, again couldn't concentrate. Day ended with Amberlough, where again I struggled to make progress. :(

perhaps. but i have got only Sunday to catch up with all the reads so "concentration" is not allowed to enjoy a holiday, and that too on a Sunday. ;)

After jumping from one book to another, I finally managed to finish two books. both are from NA/sports genre (am reading so many books about NHL lately). In other books (the one on my CR), I am past 65% mark except Idiot where I am yet to cross 6.5%. sigh!
books I finished:
The Mistake - 1 Star - It was bad in comparison to its predecessor and successor. Felt dejected and disappointed in the end.
Him - 3 Star - it was fun and humorous. But also it was about coming out and accepting what you are to your family, pals and the whole world.
The Pedant in the Kitchen - DNF/1 Star - I don't like to cook let alone read cookery books. So I failed miserably at this. Bad thing is everyone else finished this BR with only me DNFing it. Sorry Girish!
Currently Reads
Amberlough - 65% - a spy drama and things are just getting more tangled with each word but am thoroughly enjoying this.
Neanderthal Marries Human - 55% - Janie & Quinn! <3
Days of Blood & Starlight - 68% - Am loving this! a rebellion is on the horizon.
Every Dead Thing - 60% - After a boring start and less exciting PI skill of Charlie Parker, I am finally getting some action. but damn author loves bloody details.
The Idiot - haven't ogled cover in 20 days let alone read a word.: >__< :(

A productive week. finished 3 books in total.
Coraline - weekend read and a good children's book about realizing the importance of people you love.
A Monster Calls - IR's BOTM and heart-wrenching tale of a 13 year old about letting things go.
Days of Blood & Starlight - took me two months to read this but it was really good. There are tons of books in YA fantasy category but books in this series stand out in comparison to other books. lovely writing and amazing characters.

Four days of holiday and I totally wasted them by jumping from one book to another and now am very angry at myself.:/
Also finished only two books.
Neanderthal Marries Human and The Outsiders.
First I have been reading from last three weeks. Oh no it's not a tough book, it's just mind kept wandering away to other books. A novella in Knitting in the City series by Penny Reid, tells us the story of Quinn marrying Janie. Janie is fabulous with all her knowledge about everything and keeps giving us ample of funny moments. We also get to read Quinn's PoV. He is not as funny as Janie but extremely likable.
Outsiders was picked as weekend read. Despite it putting me to sleep twice I managed to finished it this afternoon (after a little nap;)). A lovely coming of age story.
In spite of my promise to self that I will read Idiot in these four days, I didn't even looked in book's direction (sorry, Dostoyevsky). :(
Currently reading
The Historian (kind of stuck in chapter 10)
The Feast of the Goat (definitely attending it this week)
Etched in Bone (don't complain, am reading you sincerely)

Book jumping ensures long term results... suddenly one day you find that you are about to finish 2 or 3 books together... and the bliss of it is unexplainable. :P

I've been following your progress for some while. You have some of my favorite books in the list.
When do you start The Color Purple? It is one tear jerker, I cried ALL the time! Also, the beginning is very disturbing. You might have a little difficulty dealing with Pidgin but once you get used to it, you'll love it. In case you like this one, do read Beloved by Toni Morrison.
Planning to pick The Color Purple soon. Hope I don't cry like a baby.;)
which others of your favorites has made it to my lists?

Excellent! Great to see your inspiration for Idiot resulting in a magnitude of different reads :D

lolss... planning to pick it soon as it will help me in three of my challenges. :)

A disappointing week in terms of quantity and quality. :/
Finished Into the Fire and Etched in Bone. both books were finale and hugely disappointing, at least for me.
Currently reading
The Warded Man (it always put me to sleep)
Atonement - 10% (likable read so far)
The Feast of the Goat - 10% (a tough read so far with all the history of Dominican republic and its neighboring countries)
The Historian - 40% (a gripping read so far)
The Idiot - On hold

Disastrous two weeks reading wise. Read only two books.:(
Atonement and Truth or Beard.
Adding two books to my CR.
A Dance with the Dragon.
Fellowship of the Ring
Currently reading:
Historian at 65% is very good but am dreading the end.
The Warded Man at 55%, an amazing fantastical world. Characters are also likable.

Rebecca, Manju considers a week good only if she reads 5 or more, and one of those a chunkster. ;-)

Nah, you're exaggerating. Only 2-3 books with 300-350 psges makes my week awesome. ;)

Finished The Willows this morning. A short story but an excellent piece of story telling and writing.
Meenakshi wrote: "I have read about 12-13 books this entire year but sure, your week was disastrous reading wise."
hahaha... but I read a lot of books which are easy (read rom/pnr). Also I was not reading anything tough at that time, so I was a little disappointed.

Finished 5 books in last 14 days. yup, am happy!:D
The Willows and Wenjack were short stories. First was marvelous in its execution, but the second one lacked the depth which was required for the subject of the book.
Finally managed to finish The Historian. Kudos to author for the historical research that she did for the book.
Grin and Beard It and Beard Science, are respectively book 2 and 3 of Winston Brothers series. second book I found to be simple and cute but the third was hilarious as the characters were introduced in previous books, presented as odd one out. Loved the chemistry between this couple.
With these books, I also crossed 50 books marks. ;)

congrats for the fastest 50!
Easy and tough books are just perceptions of each person. What you say easy (fantasy, rom.... i don't know what a pnr is) are super duper tough for me. And you do happen to read a lot of "easy" tomes!
