We all tend to get stuck in a groove with our reading and bounce to the same "go to" authors or genres so I am putting up this Challenge to pull us out of that groove.

There are 2 ways to do Random Reading:

Option 1:
Pick up a book at random from your local library, store, kindle or your TBR shelf. Don't look at it before getting it just grab it and go. Then read it! Did you enjoy it, did you find a new author or genre? The trick here is not overthinking it and not going to the same spot you always go when picking up your books.

Option 2:
Ask a member of the group to choose your next book for you. They can make a suggestion for you to read and you then go read it. Members that are doing the choosing need to keep in mind that they need to choose a book accessible to most people and not obscure, hard to find stuff. The requesting member can ask that they choose a book from their TBR or narrow it down some by where the book can come from.

If you choose to ask a member then just post here asking for a book and any guidelines that you require in your books.

I added The Lost Years of Merlin to my TBR stack this month.

I saw the book sitting on the return shelf at the library and decided to give it a go.

Snagged Deadmen Walking (Deadman's Cross, #1) by Sherrilyn Kenyon Deadmen Walking on the shelf at Wal-Mart and bought it cause I thought the cover was cool.

Ended up liking the book, It's nice when that works out.

I like lighthouses. This book has pretty pictures. It also has more text than I bargained for, but I slugged through it and learned a lot about the lighthouses of America and Canada. Did you know that each lighthouse has its own "character of light" for identification? I didn't, but I do now.

That is some interesting information.

I was helping my daughter(15) go through children's books at the library looking for a book for a project in her Drama class and we brought home a stack of books to read and help her decide. I had a ball reading children's book to my 15 year old and she even put away her teenage attitude to have fun with it.

Some of our selections were Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type , Somebody's Treasure , Meet Me at the Moon , and The Black Book of Colors .

Lea Ann (buntingla) | 765 comments Cold Day in the Sun by Sara Biren The book I finished today was totally random because our school library did blind dates with books for Valentine's Day. You chose a small, heart-shaped candy box that caught your eye and that determined your genre. Then the librarian told you two titles from which to choose. You didn't even get to see the covers! It was a super cute idea, and I ended up reading a book I probably would never have picked up off the shelf.
