Kaity | 743 comments I love that series, Kathleen. I'm on book #6 and have thoroughly enjoyed every one. I'm also a big fan of her Guild Hunter series. I'm hoping to read Archangel's Consort sometime during bingo.

Kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 206 comments I am enjoying the series so far. I shall decide on whose story I love most after I finish the series ;) I have 11 more books to go.

I'm browsing the lists they gave and so far so good. I find books in every shelf.

message 53: by Kaity (new)

Kaity | 743 comments Do you read series books back to back? I used to but found myself forgetting huge chunks of the books really quickly. Now I read about 1 book from the same series every 3 or so months.

:D My only 'problem' shelf was steampunk with only one reading option. All of the others had at least 5 books on my 'to be read asap' list. Glad to hear the shelves are treating you well also!

Kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 206 comments Not really. Well, it mostly depends on my mood.

I have a few steampunk books. Have you tried Gail Carriger?

message 55: by Kaity (new)

Kaity | 743 comments I read Soulless years ago and loved it but never continued for some reason! I should look into picking that up again. I'm trying not to add any book to my tbr for bingo though :P

message 56: by Kaity (new)

Kaity | 743 comments Unless it works for the first shelf called, I will be reading Tangled Threads (Elemental Assassin, #4) by Jennifer Estep for my Free Space book. Option 2 - The Elemental Assasin series is #9 on the best of UF list.

message 57: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi all. I'm oscillating between several books for Free Space. I want to read Spider's Bite, but I'm hoping to keep that for Assassin shelf. Still, my possible choices for Free Space:
Magic on the Hunt (Allie Beckstrom, #6) by Devon Monk Spider's Bite (Elemental Assassin, #1) by Jennifer Estep Midnight (Dance with the Devil, #3) by Megan Derr

I'll narrow it down soon.

Sandra | 25914 comments Preethi, you could read #2 for Assassins. LOL. Just saying ....

message 59: by Kaity (new)

Kaity | 743 comments Preethi, read Spider's Bite!! (I haven't read anything from Devon Monk or Megan Derr so my little nudge isn't entirely helpful :P)

Kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 206 comments Booh. This challenge is bad for my TBR! Hahaha. But then what challenge has not been? I accept the fact that TBRs are meant to be forever.

message 61: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh alright, both of you. I'll go for Spider's Bite (Elemental Assassin, #1) by Jennifer Estep for Free Space.

Sneaky Ms. Sandra:)

On that note, you really should read Devon Monk's books! The magic in them - so kick ass. You could always start with her Allie Beckstrom series (first book- Magic to the Bone (Allie Beckstrom, #1) by Devon Monk ) and follow up with her Ordinary Magic series (first book: Death and Relaxation (Ordinary Magic, #1) by Devon Monk )

Right? and Bingo hasn't even started yet!

message 65: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25914 comments Loved, loved Death and Relaxation (Ordinary Magic, #1) by Devon Monk waiting eagerly for #3. I've got the Allie Beckstrom books but haven't got to them yet.

I'm still standing strong when it comes to my TBR!! I slipped a little in the past few months with adding amazon recommendations based on ebooks I've purchased. Previously my tbr was only next-in-series books. I keep considering making a shelf for just everything though... I'm sure there's a lot of awesome books I've forgotten about.

I hope you enjoy it!!

message 68: by Kaity (new)

Kaity | 743 comments Preethi - I'll have to give her a try soon! I've heard good things about the Allie Beckstrom series but don't actually know anything about it.

message 69: by [deleted user] (new)

Sandra wrote: "Loved, loved Death and Relaxation (Ordinary Magic, #1) by Devon Monk waiting eagerly for #3. I've got the Allie Beckstrom books but haven't got to them yet."

I actually haven't begun this series yet, though they've been in my kindle for ages, waiting patiently for me to read! I'm hoping to read at least the first book - Death and Relaxation for this Bingo round.

message 70: by [deleted user] (new)

@Sandra and Kait: You should definitely read her Allie Beckstrom series. That series is awesome. Especially after book 2, when Shame aka Shamus Flynn gets introduced. And we have a pet gargoyle and everything!

message 71: by [deleted user] (new)

Laura, have you decided on a Free Space book?

message 72: by Kaity (new)

Kaity | 743 comments Ohh! I think I've only read one other series with a gargoyle (Grave Witch). I already picked up most of my books for Jan/Feb but, psh, what's one more book... :P

message 73: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25914 comments Preethi, I found Death and Relaxation (Ordinary Magic, #1) by Devon Monk one of those really quick reads, even though its over 300 pages, so if you can, fit it into Bingo :D

message 74: by Kaity (new)

Kaity | 743 comments Only a few more days to go! Is there a shelf any of you are hoping to have called first? :)

message 75: by [deleted user] (new)

I haven't gone through the sheves yet! Every round of Bingo so far, I've gone through the lists and have created a lists of potential books to read. But then I would read something completely different to them! So this round I've decided not to look at the list of books at all until shelf call. That way, I can go ahead and pick a book directly.

How about you all? Any books you're hoping to fit in to this round of Bingo?

message 76: by [deleted user] (new)

Also, Laura where are you?

message 77: by Kaity (last edited Jan 16, 2017 08:43PM) (new)

Kaity | 743 comments I do the Seasonal Reading Challenge which often has very specific tasks, so I've gotten pretty good at planning my books in advance and sticking to them.

I'm hoping to reread Hunting Ground asap so a first shelf call that works for that or Tangled Threads would be my preference *fingers crossed!*.

To name a few... I'm also hoping to fit in eventually:
Summer Knight (The Dresden Files, #4) by Jim Butcher The Restorer (Graveyard Queen, #1) by Amanda Stevens Eighth Grave After Dark (Charley Davidson, #8) by Darynda Jones Deadline (Newsflesh Trilogy, #2) by Mira Grant Archangel's Consort (Guild Hunter, #3) by Nalini Singh Mind Games (The Disillusionists, #1) by Carolyn Crane Storm's Heart (Elder Races, #2) by Thea Harrison

Man, Goodreads has been eating my comments. Strangely it's decided to mesh my reply and yours Kait so that a completely different sentence pops up. This has happened twice now. I've deleted my comment. I'll reply when goodreads is not confused!

Ya. Good luck Laura. Finish your exams well!

message 86: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm having the New Shelf Syndrome.... The situation where I am unable to read any new books because 'what if it fits the new shelf' ?

Kaity | 743 comments Thanks for posting the shelf called, Laura! :) Now to go make my book choice... Hope you enjoy your book! I've heard good things but haven't tried that series yet either.

message 91: by Kaity (new)

Kaity | 743 comments For the Hunters shelf, I will be reading Dark Challenge (Dark, #5) by Christine Feehan - shelved by 1 person as hunters, 390 pages

message 92: by [deleted user] (last edited Jan 19, 2017 12:24AM) (new)

Yay! Annnnnnd it's started!

Thank you for posting the shelf Laura.

For the Hunters shelf I'm going with Magic on the Hunt (Allie Beckstrom, #6) by Devon Monk .

message 93: by Lala (new)

Lala | 1065 comments @Kait - I have high hopes for it too

Kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 206 comments I might read My Lady Quicksilver (London Steampunk, #3) by Bec McMaster .

Are we allowed to change books?

message 95: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes. You can change as many times as you want:)

message 96: by Kaity (new)

Kaity | 743 comments Enjoy your book, Preethi! You've already sold me on that series and I hope to give it a go soon :) I didn't realize it was a completely series! I was curious how many books were out so far and was both pleasantly and unpleasantly surprised. I really like completed series... but they also make me sad if I end up madly in love because there's no more.

message 97: by Kaity (new)

Kaity | 743 comments Ohhh, LOVE the cover for the one you might be going with, Kathleen!! She looks incredibly badass and awesome.

Kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 206 comments I'm enjoying the push and pull between the characters. You sould give this series a go too! It's good!

Kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 206 comments I finished my book for hunters and will post the review tomorrow. I'll probably start with my free space book tomorrow too :)

Kait, I highly recommend My Lady Quiksilver! It's sizzling hot!

message 100: by Kaity (new)

Kaity | 743 comments Nice work! :D I just started one of my books. I wanted to finish one up that I'd been dragging my feet on first.

The series sounds like a lot of fun! I believe I've only read one historically set paranormal book and I LOVED it (Firelight). I'll definitely look into giving Kiss of Steel a try :)
