I have decided to stick with the same system as last year, everyone will given 4 randomly selected books a minimum of 1 will be a Wish List book. You will be allowed 2 swaps and that is it, if you swap a Wish List book you will be allocated a new Wish List book so think carefully about your choices.

As the selection process is entirely random if you are given 3 books that you have already read, I will allow you to swap 1 of the 3 free of charge the others will need to be re-read or will cost you to swap.

If you are given a book that is not translated into a language you can read this can be swapped free of charge.

Every time you read and review a randomized book a new one will be generated for you, feel free to prompt me as I find GoodReads messages a little unpredictable to say the least.

If you would like a randomized list generate please respond to this post and I will action it for you.

Good luck and happy reading :)

What happens when a book you have read from the randomized list becomes a book of the month?

You will get the points for the BOTM as they are higher just pop your review in the BOTM thread :)

Dree | 243 comments Hi I know it's getting late in the year, but I am new here and this sounds interesting. Could you please generate me a list?

Done :)

D.L. I am late to the game as well but I would like a list too please. Thank you.

Chinook | 282 comments What is a wish list book?

I’m interested in the list, though I’m really restricted to books I can read on kindle right now, so I feel I’d go through my swaps quickly. Every time I try to read a paper book I get nowhere because almost all of my reading is at night while I cuddle the kids to sleep.

Hi Chinook, a Wish list book is a book no-one in the group has read or reviewed yet so they tend to be the harder to find / not in English books.

Chinook | 282 comments Ahhhh. Okay, sign me up. Not sure I’ll be terribly successful at it, but why not?

message 11: by Dree (new)

Dree | 243 comments So I finished my first randomized list book and I reviewed it, but I am confused if I have to post it within the group somewhere? And if so, where?

Hi Dree, there is a folder called Other 1001 Book Reviews if you add your review there that would be great :)

List generated :)

Chinook | 282 comments If you don’t swap out a book from the list, are the five points generated by requesting it used for voting instead or...?

They are they go into your participation points pot (try saying that fast 10 times) and they can be spent however you wish :)

Jamie Barringer (Ravenmount) (ravenmount) | 555 comments Hi. It's getting later in the year, but not too late yet to read a few more dozen books, including a few more 1001 List books. So, may I have a randomly generated list, please? Thank you. :)

Book do I set up a thread, or do you?

message 20: by Chinook (new)

Chinook | 282 comments Do our lists roll over into 2018? I’ve made zero progress. Sigh.

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

@Kelly I will set up the thread as that gives me the ability to edit it when books are read and new books added.

Chinook new year new list so no rollovers. I have also made zero progress despite generating the lists lol

Kelly_Hunsaker_reads ... | 902 comments Thanks Book! We will see how I do. But a fresh start in January!

message 23: by Diane (new)

Diane | 2044 comments Is there a way next year of making swaps cost less if you have already read the book previously? Thanks.

message 24: by Dree (new)

Dree | 243 comments When do we get our new lists? Do we need to request them in January? I am always out of town the beginning of January, it would be awesome to be able to get library books before I go. I'll be visiting my parents, always lots of reading time.

message 25: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Barringer (Ravenmount) (ravenmount) | 555 comments I'll be glad there's no rollover. I put in interlibrary loan requests for 2 more of mine, and when they arrived on the hold shelf, one turned out to have been mixed up in the electronic catalog. Instead of I Thought of Daisy, I wound up with Birds of America. By the time the libraries sort out their issues and find a correct copy of my requested book I may only have a week to finish reading it.

Hi all

Seen as everyone is so keen to get started I will start generating lists next Friday (I am busy this weekend lol)

Hi Diane,

With the randomised list you get a new book generated for each one you read so if you do get one you have read before you have the choice to swap it or just ignore it and read the others to get new books.

If anyone happens to get 4 books they have already read I am sure I can do something with regard to the PP cost situation :)

Hi Book, is it too late to request a list for 2017? I thought I might be able to fit a couple in. Thank you.
