Jayanth's Mission Impossible 2017

P.S I plan to start reading "Great Small Things " too."
Yep, even I fell on love with audiobooks. Do you use Librovox app for free audiobooks? Check that out if already haven't :)
Great to hear you will be starting on this month's pick :) Hopefully we will have something to discuss about this book on its thread. I have to resume reading this book though :D

Thanks a lot, Manju. :) Yep, looks like a good start this year. But last year was similar, but later I had such a reading drought that my year ended up with me reading only half the number of books I planned to complete. Hopefully this year is good :D
And you have a great start too, with 3 books :) Great going.

I liked this book. Certain thoughts and situations in the story reminded me of my own life or the lives of the people I know. This is essentially a book that delves into the mind of a man who suffers to accept the fact that death has come knocking on his door even though he seemed to be leading a righteous, proper life. This is a book that looks right in the eye of a man who's sentenced to suffering in bed due to his illness, be warned.

I have a grandfather at my home who is bedridden since approximately 5 years. So my hands trembled while reading certain parts of this book and made me think and widen my understanding of what my grandfather's suffering might feel like, what must be going through his mind every single minute of the day, day after day. Sigh! This was a short read, but a very dark and profound one.

00:17: At this point, I can safely say my day starts at 00:00 and ends at 00:00 on the next day(technically night), thanks to the temporary OCD caused by my new year goodreads resolution. But I'm sure I'm not alone in this kind of nocturnal activity.
09:37: I'll read Small Great Things today, no excuses. At least a few pages.
22:43: Have been switching between reading and listening to the audiobook. I can't help but feel helpless, angry and anxious with every chapter of the book.
23:50: So, I did manage to read quite a bit of this book today, thanks also to the audiobook. I previously said the story is paced well enough, but now I'm starting feel it's a little too slow sometimes.

Thank you!! :) Looking forward to us all having a discussion on that book in the monthly book thread :) Good luck with it, both of you :)

00:00: Not feeling sleepy as usual. Listening to the audiobook. At this time of the night, my eyes don't have the energy to read.
00:14: Jesus, this book is so taxing. Once I finish this book, I'm going to read something cheerful and jolly and light. Like 'Jonathan Livingston Seagull' by Richard Bach. Anybody reading this, please do suggest such books. Please!
11:00: Started reading book #7 of The series of unfortunate events. Need a break from Small Great Things.
20:59: Spent most of the day trying to sleep, sleeping, trying to get rid of sleep. And then dealing with headache. So yeah, haven't read much today.
11:50: Completed book #7 of the series of unfortunate events. Headache still troubling.

10:46: The headache's killing me! I want to read, but not Small Great Things. I will start reading a new fantasy series, haven't read any new ones in quite a while. Anyone reading this, please recommend some immersive fantasy series.
12:13: I've started Farseer Trilogy #1 Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb, hope I enjoy this series.

Mine too. But its not a fantasy.
Mine too. But its not a fantasy.
Try Brandon Sanderson, A Game of Thrones, The Lies of Locke Lamora, The Black Prism, The Eye of the World, Gardens of the Moon, Prince of Thorns, The Name of the Wind, Theft of Swords and The Blade Itself.

I just check the description and liked the premise. I love books with animals having a major role :) Thanks a lot for the recommendation.

I read you AA review before picking it up ;) :)
And thank you so much for linking all those titles, I'vent even heard of some of them. I've been behind in fantasy books for a few years now. Seems like there are a lot of great worlds to be lost in. Thank again! :)
If you want Fantasy, Manju is the guru. I was reluctant to start fantasy....but M bombarded me with good books...and here I am..not exactly a convert, but a novice neither.

It is a character oriented fantasy and lovely lovely writing. If slow pace don't bore you down, then its worth every second you spent on it. Just don't expect too much.:)

17:56: Mondays suck! Couldn't read much this past weekend and couldn't read much today either.
I'm enjoying the book, it is so slow but delightful all the same. Oh, did I mention that Mondays suck? It seems like I did. Oh God, I need another coffee to cope with this workday.
11:58: With the aid of an audiobook, I was able to progress with the reading and the story is beginning to pick up pack and action. Enjoying it so far.
Good luck Jayanth. That's a plethora of books in that list! Hope you conquer them all and more \m/

Thanks a lot, Gorab! :) I hope you have wonderful year with books too :)

Book readers are usually nocturnal animals ;) We make up for the lack of time to read during daytime by staying up late. :D And by the end of the week, one is so sleep deprived that he wastes the 2 days with headache and sleep :D lol

Hoping to finish this book in 2 days, but very unlikely.

Somehow all the covers have a dominating brown color, or a close relative of it.
OMG... I always drool at books and their covers.
I have the same 3 books with me.... except Three Musketeers.

Nice!! Even I drool over book covers and sometimes the cover we see on the product page online and the actual book cover we receive are different. That makes me furious if I particularly loved the original cover :D

same here .I have purchased books from local book shops for a particular cover design though they are available cheaper on Amazon
by the way lovely picture .I have the same 3 books with me.... except Three Musketeers although I got them secondhand from bookchor.com

He use to say " I owe you so many books ,I owe you so many books ..."
so I asked him "How many books more , baba ? :) :)"
He was so happy on that day
One of my finest memory relating to books <3 :D :D

Wow, that is a great and lovely gesture from your end. :O Can't even fathom buying so many books all at once and gifting someone. :)

I only recently found 'No. 1 ladies detective agency' and was thinking, okay, here's a book I'm reading that most people might not even heard or read in this group. Now you two say you not only read but have the same book. I feel so foolish, lol :P

I will preserve this screenshot and send it to my son when he joins a job. B-)"
Rofl!!
Jayanth...am a fan of the series though I have read only up to book 4. it is slow moving but immensely readable. One day I will go back to Botswana and the lady detectives.

Oh, great!! And I did not know this was a series of books :D Fingers crossed, I hope I like this one. :)
