This novel reminded me of all the good things about a Franzen novel without the a-holishness of Franzen. Complex family dynamics, interesting relationships, flawed yet lovable characters with a very keen sense of social commentary.
I listened to the audio and the narrator was absolutely fantastic! It was a great listening experience, and yet I know I also missed some of the essential greatness of the book because if it so frankly, I don't know what I would recommend. It was seriously fantastic audio.
I'm pretty sure this is going to replace something on my Top Ten list. I'm about 65% done. It's just great writing, and I love Samuel even if he is a bit of a whiny guy.

Great book, worth reading/listening too.
