I might snag a graphic novel for this one...

That's a good idea!

That's a good idea!
Here are a couple of ideas if you're stuck:
- The Ice Dragon by George R. R. Martin (Middle Grade, Fantasy; this is a companion to the ASOIAF series, but you don't need to read the main series at all to enjoy this book). It is picture heavy.
- Herland by Charlotte Perkins Gilman (Adult, Classic, Social Commentary)
- The English Roses by Madonna (Picture Book- definitely a read more for the gorgeous illustrations, but not a bad fable either.)
- The Girl of Ink and Stars by Kiran Millwood Hargrave (Middle Grade, Fantasy, definitely one for the cartographers)
- How (not) to Make Bad Children Good by Emma Barnes (Middle Grade, Fantasy, rather hilarious)
Two I am considering are:
- The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman
- Jessica Haggerthwaite: Witch Dispatcher by Emma Barnes

Yes…I was thinking about Absolute Batman: The Long Halloween by Jeph Loeb, but guess what? It's a 400 page hardcover! :o
And then I looked at Batman: The Black Mirror by Scott Snyder, and that was 288 page hardcover… :\
The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller is 197 page hardcover, so that would work.
But I might fudge this challenge anyway. :p

I sort of think that if you're looking for the books in the first place, you are already half-winning because you are broadening your horizons!

I know! xD Thanks! And, well, for me, books are an investment, and I'm very excited about the challenge idea, because it will get me to read more diverse books, but also to be able to get and invest in things I have wanted to for awhile to broaden my library (which is mostly fantasy and YA) :D

For sure! I was reorganising my bookshelves my target audience and genre the other day and realise how much I've been expanding my adult section, but also much I hadn't actually read of it! This will be a great way to knock some of those books off without feeling guilt over all the other books I could have read in that time!

You're right, and I've already selected several books from my shelves for the challenges for just that reason. :)

Saga? Batman? Star Wars? Death Note? Watchmen? What are you thinking on reading? :D

Nimona by Noelle Stevenson is a good graphic novel! The Sleeper and the Spindle is a nice illustrated short story that is published by itself as well! I don't read enough graphic novels, but they are just so expensive! The new Lunar Chronicles graphic novel comes out in January.

I know Saga is popular, but I'm not really interested in it lol I'm also more of a Marvel fan :) Maybe some Locke and Key?

Marvel??? :o I can't read anything other than Batman!!! :D
Neither Marvel nor DC, I've heard this was an excellent graphic novel Blankets.
Edit : I just checked, it's too long. Oh boy. It's like 500 something pages.
Hey, it would be nostalgic for me if I read Tintin. :D I used to have every one. Anyway, this challenge is reserved for Batman for me.
Let me know what you come up with, Ashley. ;)

Yeah, Blankets is long but supposedly really good. I wish graphic novels weren't so expensive!

I know, but I think it's worth the investment. I want to slowly build my Batman library. :) One at a time. :D
I have wanted to make Vault of Dreams into a graphic novel for awhile but I know how much work it will be and how expensive the cost is and that gives me pause.

I've haven't read any super hero comics yet, but I've heard Ms. Marvel is pretty good so that's an option! I've never delved into Batman, but that's mainly because I don't follow DC. I've watched a couple of the Batman movies though. I wish you luck growing your library though :)

You're welcome! :D I became a Batman fan through Nolan's interpretation with Christian Bale. I love those movies so much. :D So, I'm a huge Batman fan and I have to indulge my need to read about The Dark Knight. :D
Oh, really? It was a huge part of my childhood! They're really fun comics. :)

I'm so out of the loop I really only know Christian Bale as Batman. Batman scares me with his voice.
Yeah, I've really only been reading for a few years so everything is new to me. I think last year, or maybe even early this year was the first time I'd ever read a graphic novel. I didn't even know such things existed before booktube. I grew up thinking comics and stuff were nerdy. Now I LOVE Marvel and plan on reading some comics. My Marvel one is even my favorite sweatshirt I have haha!

It's okay! You're in a good place with having Christian Bale be your Batman. He's mine, too! That's the center of Batman for me. One film critic said he liked to think of Nolan's Batman as the "true account" of what really happened in Gotham and all the comics and things are the lore that has come from it, and that's an interesting idea. :D
Well that's great! I'm glad you're reading now and are really loving it and are open to tons of different things and are growing in all the genres - and something like Marvel, well, they have a whole universe unique to them, so there's so much to enjoy there! Including sweatshirts! xD

Keira! :o
Well, it's there for you when you want to see it! Make sure you're able to see all three movies! :D Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight Rises. If you like the work of Christopher Nolan you'll love them. Also the cast is incredible. Christian Bale, Liam Neeson, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Cillian Murphy, Marion Cotillard, and an incredible Oscar-winning performance from Heath Ledger. :)

They all did a wonderful job making the movies unforgettable. :)

HAHAHAHA! That's awesome Keira lol
Luke, do you watch the show Gotham at all? I watched most of the first season but lost interest.

No, I don't. I like the idea of what they were trying to do, but I didn't connect with it at all. :\

Gosh, isn't that the worst? Something is created within the world you love and it just flops for you. Sorry it didn't add to your love of all DC things!

It's okay! Really! :D I've got the Nolan Batmans, the Batman classic graphic novels like Batman: The Killing Joke, Batman: The Long Halloween, Batman: Year One, and Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, and also we have Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, who should be getting her own movie soon and Wonder Woman: Warbringer, by Leigh Bardugo, one of my favorite authors on the planet, so that makes me happy! :D
Plus, on a lighter note, we have Batman in the Lego Movie and I actually think Batman is even getting his own lego movie or something like that! xD

XD I love lego movies

I'm so excited! :D
And Lego Movie really shocked me! I saw it with no expectations and thought it was one of the best movies of the year. As a fan of legos as a kid, I was like, wow! They really really got this one right. It was so funny and imaginative! :D

Same here! I'm pretty sure we bought it and have it on DVD lol Who says you have to grow up with age?
