Which book was better? Lord Of The Rings? Or Hobbit?

They're completely different books. It's like asking which is the best food - steak or chocolate cake?

Interesting question. To me The Hobbit makes a better read--I like the lighter tone and the more limited scope. Evil seems less ominous, and there are fewer departures from the main plot. I believe The LOTRs makes a better STUDY, however, with its complicated plot and denser allusiveness.

Steak with chocolate cake after. ;)

Well The Lord of the Rings is more detailed, if you want a quick read, go to The Hobbit. I like The Hobbit but because of the great writing I love The Lord of the Rings first.

I liked Lord of the Rings better. I read the Hobbit afterwards and it wasn't as good. It was still nice to read more from Middle Earth though.

LORT, Hobbit is for kids

Mikkel Andersen I agree The Hobbit is more like a fairy tale for children.
