SOLVED. YA main Character Ken gains invulnerability and can't die. [s]

I read this book around 2005 in middle school. It was in the YA section and I think it was categorized as a thriller. All I remember is that the main character is named Ken and a few scenes in the book. Some how, he gains invulnerability after a few chapters and he goes scuba diving with this girl that he likes and he was able to go deeper in the water than humanly possible. He also touched a super hot pan in the oven and he was not burned.

That's all that I remember sadly because I had to turn in the book before I even got half way into the book. I'm sure that it couldn't have been older than 10 years ago at the time when it was made (or I could be totally wrong, but it seemed like a newer book). I can't get to that middle school anymore since I moved. Any help would be great!
