Last time we chose a book by poll, which I'd like to do again. But first we need some options to put in the poll! So what books could Dan and I read and would make for interesting discussion?

Also, perhaps "The Remains of the Day" by Kazuo Ishiguro. Or "The Perfume" by Patrick Süskind.

Ellie | 1 comments Just something short please - I've only just started reading Sapiens and I'm listening to Metamorphosis (we studied the play in GCSE drama and I didn't hate it but I think I just got bored of it - the stage play in London was amazing thought)!
Maybe Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy? Xx

Wioyo | 1 comments I recommend Fiela's Child, I just finished reading it for english and it was really really good!

Now I'm not good at summaries so I'll skip out on that part, but the book deals with issues such as racism, and identity crises and all of that

message 34: by Erika (new)

Erika Is the poll still open?

If it is, I'd like to throw in my hat for Americanah by Chimimanda Ngozi Adichie, a (really) fantastic and thought-provoking book!

Otherwise A Brief History of Time :D

message 35: by Yasmine (new)

Yasmine | 2 comments Do no harm - Henry marsh or complications - Atul Gawande or potentially when breath becomes air - Paul kalanithi ( however this one is particularly tear jerking but incredible nonetheless) all incredibly written and thought provoking books which I would recommend to anyone

message 43: by Daniela (new)

Daniela Baptiste | 1 comments Brave New World.

message 44: by Fabian (new)

Fabian Kok | 1 comments I'm up for multiple books already mentioned (thinking fast and slow is one of my highest regarded books, 1984 I'd think most have already read, Hitchhiker's Guide is just insane fun, A Brave New World I still have to finally get some time).

But for something else, how about Waking Up by Sam Harris? Tackling a topic of spirituality from a scientific point of view (e.g. the effects of meditation on the brain), leaving out all the mumbo jumbo. Fairly short book, insanely well written and clear as can be.

message 45: by Rasmus (new)

Rasmus Lind (rasmuslind) | 1 comments I'm going to give some book recomendations of books that i've not read yet but i'd like to read!
