Emma Jaye | 3693 comments Admin mod message.
Note: This message is being posted in every active group.

it is not acceptable to contact reviewers after a review had been posted, except to say ‘thank you’. Asking a review to change a review is strictly prohibited. It is also not acceptable to contact a reviewee before you post your review.
This group is about getting honest reviews, and that includes the good, the bad and very occasionally, the ugly. Simply put, if you don’t want honest reviews, this isn’t the place for you.

Hi Emma

If there are serial offenders, should we look at excluding them from future rounds?

message 133: by Garfield (new)

Garfield Whyte (garfieldwhyte) Why couldnt we leave Emma's statement to stand alone.

message 134: by Chrys (new)

Chrys Cymri | 441 comments Mod
It is a point worth raising.

message 135: by Garfield (new)

Garfield Whyte (garfieldwhyte) Her words were good enough.

Then we shall agree to disagree!

message 137: by Andrew (new)

Andrew Mowere (AndrewMowere) | 35 comments Hello Emma, does your warning also extend to messages with inquiries? I make it a habit to thank authors who review me and ask a question if something in the review was unclear.

message 138: by Garfield (last edited Jan 29, 2017 09:24AM) (new)

Garfield Whyte (garfieldwhyte) is there one administrator or do we have a self appointed deputy.

message 139: by Emma (new)

Emma Jaye | 3693 comments Andrew, no it doesn't extend to a polite thank you and a friendly enquiry about if a reviewer would be prepared to extend their thoughts. They don't have to reply and the only appropriate response if someone does go above and beyond the call of duty to do this, is thank you, not an argument.
The rule is in place to stop reviewers and reviewees feeling harassed by group members. to either change their review or to influence a review before it is posted.

Everyone should feel comfortable to post whatever review they feel appropriate, as long as it is about the book, not the author. The group mods will strongly defend that right.

And yes, Chrys offenders risk either immediate removal from the group, or a warning to that effect.
if anyone has experienced contact from another member about a review that makes them feel uncomfortable, please get in contact. You might not be the only one.

If the mods aren't told, we don't know its happening.

message 140: by Andrew (new)

Andrew Mowere (AndrewMowere) | 35 comments Thank you, Emma. As always your work is fully appreciated. You should start charging ten monthly reviews from the group in exchange for such effort!

Hi Robert,

Many thanks for your review of An Undesirable Marriage, but it looks as if you haven't put it on Goodreads.

It was certainly an interesting read. I think this is the first truly good book in a while that simply did not resonate with me at all.

Thank you for writing it, E.M, and I'm glad to see it is otherwise well received.

E.M. Swift-Hook | 3487 comments Thanks for the review Andrew, much appreciated - so sorry it was not your cup of tea.

message 148: by Andrew (new)

Andrew Mowere (AndrewMowere) | 35 comments It's certainly not your fault. Cups of tea tend to differentiate people, I just hope I outlined the strong suits well enough throughout to provide legitimate objective information.
