Ooooh Matthew Riley - good idea. Love him. Should be able to pick it up anywhere as well. On the off chance that I don't find that do you think the orange covered Penguin Classics count? I've been meaning to finally read Call of The Wild.

Oh no neither of those - you know the penguin classic editions you can get from any moderately good bookstore with the orange covers and a thick white band around the middle displaying the title and author? Do they count as orange?

Sorry, I'm not familiar with those. Does anyone else know about these??

Can you give me a title and author?

message 308: by Asa-Marie (new)

Asa-Marie Webster | 34 comments If they do count, then I just need to find three more books! Woohoo! I need:
A fight and make up, an uncomfortable read and a kiss on the front cover.
Until then - I'm off to read!

 Li'l Owl | 2504 comments Hiya again Asa-Marie,

I took a peek at your to-read books in order to get some ideas for the last 2 categories, Asa-Marie. I hope you don't mind. I found these that you've marked as books in your library. All of them would count for kissing on the cover, and they would all work for fighting and making up, too.
The biggest part of this challenge was putting together a list of books for me too!

Plus One by Elizabeth Fama
Plus One by Elizabeth Fama

Aimée & Jaguar A Love Story, Berlin 1943 by Erica Fischer
Aimée & Jaguar: A Love Story, Berlin 1943 by Erica Fischer

Perfect Chemistry (Perfect Chemistry, #1) by Simone Elkeles

My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick

These would qualify for the 'fighting and making up' I would think:
These are just examples, but it might help you get the idea for this category.

My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult

Beloved (The Trilogy, #1) by Toni Morrison

The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen

Oh thanks so much! I ended up going with Aimée & Jaguar: A Love Story, Berlin 1943- Aimée & Jaguar A Love Story, Berlin 1943 by Erica Fischer

I am currently readingThe Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer (LOVE it) which is about the German occupation on Guernsey in World War II - so it seems a nice follow on from that.

I have completed my list!! Woohoo!! However, I am not sure ifPeople of the Book People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks by Geraldine Brooks fits into the 'Set in multiple countries' category. What do you think? Have you read it?

I started it a while back and never finished it...she starts off in Australia and then flies the protagonist to Vienna (if I recall correctly) and then the book goes into the history of the book the story is about, which is set in Sarajevo...so now I say it out loud (so to speak) I think it qualifies!

message 319: by Asa-Marie (new)

Asa-Marie Webster | 34 comments Oh that was my other question. Can we have more than one book by the same author?

message 320: by Phrynne, Series Queen! (new)

Yes you can Asa-Marie.

message 321: by Li'l Owl (new)

Li'l Owl | 2504 comments For your first question, I would say that People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks
People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks does work for more than one country.

I don't think that there is a limit of the number of books you can use by the same author. I've used several books by the same author in challenges, and I've seen others do that too. I would say as long as each separate book qualifies for each part of the challenge, then it should be ok.
I'll message you in your profile with an example of a challenge I did this way.

I'll also give you the link that our fellow Aussie friends gave me so you know how to cross out, list your books, etc. Ok?

Kathryn | 3569 comments I think I've found my "U" book that will be uncomfortable to read. I'm listening to Maralinga by Judy Nunn. It's very well written, but I wasn't aware of the specific details of what happened at Maralinga and it is certainly difficult to read. I guess some of it is Judy Nunn's imagination, but I would also guess that it is based on research she has done on what went on there.

I hadn't appreciated exactly what happened at Maralinga and the way that our native Aboriginal people were treated before, during and after the testing and what happened to some of them afterwards. It is awful...

If he was involved in the testing, he may not have been able to talk about it for years anyway - how long does the Official Secrets Act last for? I've got a feeling it's about 50 years...? And it seems like anyone involved had to sign the Official Secrets Act. Although if it was before your parents were married, it must have been earlier in the 20th century, I'm guessing, so would have been before the British started using it as a bomb test site...
