Feel free to use our planning spreadsheet (link is in the first post) to help you plan out your books, but really just have fun and update us as you wish. It's been really neat to see what everyone has chosen for their picks.

I'm not huge on planning these challenges either. However, I really really want to read the books I listed so this may help me stick to my list better. Thanks for joining!

Guys!

I have Ghosts sitting on my couch but I haven't been able to touch it because things have been so busy! I hope I can get to it in the next few days.

Finished my first book for the challenge! Granted it was a YA graphic novel but I still finished it! #9 Ghosts complete!

Awesomeness!

Just started my first book last night. Going for #2 with The Regional Office Is Under Attack! Really digging it so far. Manuel works with a different voice than I'm used to, and I like that.

I liked it a lot. I felt it ended too abruptly but it was a lot of fun and really sweet.

Thanks! Definitely enjoying sharing my reading experiences in my social media, mainly to give the authors some well-deserved shoutouts, and Litsy is perfect for it.

#1 The Clancys of Queens complete! Y'all should read this book. It's so fun and good! And the audiobook is fantastic.

I want to say that I'm on a roll, but probably not. Lol

Rebekah Crain | 32 comments Everyone's come up with great titles for this challenge. I still have a few to figure out, but all the ones I've come up with I've read and logged.

message 65: by Bill (new)

Bill Blume | 22 comments I finished my first book for the reading challenge, the number two item on the list, The Regional Office Is Under Attack!. Gotta say that I really loved the ride, right up until the end. As fast-paced as this book is, the way it kind of peters out for the finish caught me off guard. Would definitely recommend this book, but with fair warning that there's no real "surprise twist" at the end. The way the story goes, you kind of expect one. Maybe one could argue that the absence of a twist end is the twist.

Rebekah Crain | 32 comments I need two more and I'm finished! Woot woot! These last two will be more difficult though, "exclamation" and "weapon". Hmmm What to read? What to read? Time to comb through my massive TBR stacks. :D

That's amazing!!! I was a little stumped for exclamation as well. But, for now, I'm going to read What If?: Serious Scientific Answers to Absurd Hypothetical Questions Good luck!

message 68: by Rebekah (last edited Jan 27, 2017 07:50AM) (new)

Rebekah Crain | 32 comments So I have a query. I just read a book that might possibly qualify for the "weapon" category, but I'm not sure. I want feedback because it doesn't sound like a weapon unless you know how it was used in the book. The book title I was thinking of using is "Animal Crackers". Lame, right? However, in the story the animal crackers are magical and make whoever eats them turn into the animal featured in the cracker they eat so they can use that animal's size, power, and skills to fight off the bad guys. Technically, that makes them a weapon. LOL See my conundrum?

What are your thoughts? I know it's trivial, but I legitimately want to go with a title that others will agree on. If someone else can see its logical use for this challenge then I'll add it to my list; otherwise, I'll keep searching for a more appropriate book to read for this one.

TIA for any replies. :)

OK, I kinda love the idea of "death by animal cracker". So I say go for it lol

That's amazing you're almost done with the challenge!! I think using "Animal Crackers" is great, and I bet it'll make for a funny Mad Lib!

Rebekah Crain | 32 comments I figured out my "exclamation" title!! Yes Please by Amy Poehler. I'm downloading my audiobook copy now from Hoopla. *insert happy dance* I've been wanting to find a fun audiobook to listen to for awhile now, so I thought I'd see what they had that might fit the bill for this challenge. Found this one straight away, and BOOYAH 2 birds, 1 stone. :D

message 76: by Megan (new)

Megan (meganbrinckerhoff) Rebekah - I'm so amazed at that you're finished (or nearly finished) with the challenge! You must be very diligent about your reading when it comes to challenges; including graphic novels I've read 13 books this month but none of them were what I wrote down for challenges! I'm going to have to go through and see if I can make them fit into any the categories lol

message 77: by Sue (new)

Sue (ruri_kaichou) | 333 comments Mod
Rebekah - 'Yes, Please' is perfect! I'm looking forward to reading your MadLib =D

Megan - That's what I'm going to end up doing. Haha! And I have a bunch of new books that I want to read so I'm going to try to replace some of my original choices. I knew this was going to happen.

message 78: by Rebekah (new)

Rebekah Crain | 32 comments Thanks all! I'm so glad I opted to go with Yes Please in audio. It was a lot of fun listening to it since Amy herself narrated it with the help of a few other great stars helping her out. I'm honestly not sure I would have enjoyed the book all that much if I'd have read it in print.

Good luck to the rest of you with this challenge. I look forward to hearing everyone's MadLibs when the time comes. (I adore MadLibs and books, so this challenge just really worked for me.) :)

I haven't been good about updating here, but I have a finished a few more books for the challenge, including
As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales from the Making of The Princess Bride for my "Exclamation,"
My Lady Jane for "Person's Name"
Girl Waits with Gun for "Weapon" and
March: Book One for "Verb."

I'm currently reading Uprooted for another reading challenge, so I may use that for my 2nd "Verb," or, if I have time, I'd like to read Grunt: The Curious Science of Humans at War via audiobook for my 2nd "Verb," so we'll see!

Great job so far, everyone! :-)

Megan (meganbrinckerhoff) Oh wow, everyone is doing so well! I decided to go through my original picks and so far have only read one book :/ So I'm changing some of picks to books I have read this year.

I've finished:
3. Creature: The Queen of the Night
4. Person's Name: The Magpie Lord
5. Singular Noun: Kindred
8. Verb: March: Book One
9. Noun/Thing: The Sleepwalker

Tina: Pachinko was also my BOTM pick, I can't wait to read it!

message 100: by Bill (new)

Bill Blume | 22 comments So, if anyone is struggling for #10, a book for a verb, I'm gonna shamelessly advocate for the book I just finished, Overturned by Lamar Giles. It's a tightly plotted YA mystery set in Las Vegas. I'll confess to a slight bias in that I am a friend of Lamar's, but he really hit this one out the ballpark. Was surprised how quickly I read it. Hit the halfway mark, and then I couldn't put it down.
