Lisa (thespineview) | 6 comments I really want to read Hidden Figures before the movie is released. Would this complete Task #24?

I was thinking about this one for task #13 (non-fiction about technology). I haven't read it, so I'm not sure about the POVs, but wouldn't it be great if it worked for both?

Lisa (thespineview) | 6 comments Yes, that would be awesome. maybe someone has already read it and will let us know.

Niffer (fenifur) | 21 comments Finding this difficult, or rather am worried I'll get it wrong, is there a helpful list? :)

Rainey | 241 comments I think this one would fit this category.

The film recounts the story of the African-American mathematician Katherine Johnson and her two colleagues, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson, who, while working in the segregated West Area Computers division of Langley Research Center, helped NASA catch up in the Space Race.[4] Using their calculations, John Glenn became the first American astronaut to make a complete orbit of the Earth

Lisa (thespineview) | 6 comments I received this book for Christmas and started reading it. This will complete task #24 and task #13. It will also complete task #2.

Rachel (rachelmhearn) | 1 comments Definitely good for #24. The book is non-fiction, so it's hard to call the people characters, but it's definitely from the point of view of people of color exclusively. The movie...I was sad to see the screenplay written by a white woman and that it was directed by a white man. I think they made it a little cheaper and a little more crowd pleasing than perhaps it needed to be. The book is a little dry, but I liked it a lot.

Avid Reader and Geek Girl (avidreaderandgeekgirl) | 0 comments I was thinking of The Sun Is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon and I plan to use it for task 5

I think that answers my question as well. Was wondering about Trevor Noah's book, given it's a memoir with real people not "characters."
