Book synopsis:
Long believed extinct, a superb specimen of draco nobilis ("noble dragon" for those who don't understand italics) has appeared in Discworld's greatest city. Not only does this unwelcome visitor have a nasty habit of charbroiling everything in its path, in rather short order it is crowned King (it is a noble dragon, after all...). How did it get there? How is the Unique and Supreme Lodge of the Elucidated Brethren of the Ebon Night involved? Can the Ankh-Morpork City Watch restore order – and the Patrician of Ankh-Morpork to power?

Yay! Ang, we have a thread! Have you started Guards! Guards!? I started it on my birthday, as promised, but haven't finished it yet because I am reading both Guards! Guards! and Furiously Happy: A Funny Book About Horrible Things. . . and I am not making the fastest progress in either.


I'm on page 226 of 403 in my paperback copy of Guards! Guards!. It's a really fun story so far. I've laughed in a number of places, especially in the early part of the book. :-)

I'm really liking Captain Vimes. I wasn't too sure about him at first, but he has grown on me. :-) (Actually, ALL of the men in the City Watch have grown on me.) :-)

Hey!
I'm about 70% along in Guards! Guards! and I am just loving it.
Of course, I love every Pratchett book I've read and adore any book with Captain Vimes.
I'm listening to the audiobook while I knit. :)

He is such a great character! You'll really love him in the later books. My favorite was Thud!.
