Nathan Bush must drink coffee to stay up late and write, and to talk about the release of Book 3 in The Foley Chronicles: Files from the 8th District, as well as short story 1 in The Foley Chronicles: Dark Side of Foley series.
Minionese. Everyone understands that. Those Minions, if let loose, could reduce writers to redundancy. We should band together and run them off the planet.
(I'll just keep a few of my favourites as pets.)
*takes shot glass*Yeah, it's nice, little to small to drink coffee from though.
Anna, Minionese works for me. Who doesn't love Kevin?
Jane, I studied that in school. Oh wait, I think that was Espanol
*shakes head in shame, sips coffee from shot glass*
Posted my first book trailer on YouTube. Check it out and let me know what you think.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAIIv...

Hi Nathan! Looks good! But some of the words face too quickly. They only just come into focus and poof! Maybe let them linger for a couple more seconds.
Christina wrote: "Hi Nathan! Looks good! But some of the words face too quickly. They only just come into focus and poof! Maybe let them linger for a couple more seconds."I have to second that. The words disappear a little too quickly. Other than that I think this is very good trailer.

Wow, that's really awesome! Agree on leaving the captions on for just a smidgen longer :)
I didn't read what others said before watching the video so I am sorry if I am repeating them. The part where it says the killer is killing prostitutes (36 sec in) runs too fast. I had to go back to be able to read it. Once you know what's there, it feels long enough but when you don't it's too fast. Does that make any sense? Aside from that I love it.
I like it! Like others have already said, letting the words linger a bit longer would help. But really, very good!
Yes, I agree that the words flash too fast, but for the moment that's what I get. It's actually a preset movie trailer that you plug your words and images into, so I can't change the time allotted. Once I'm a little more accustomed to making one I can start from scratch and set my own time limits per scene. Thanks for the encouragement, though. Very much appreciated.
*drops Krispy Kremes all around*
Here's an alternate cover for my book (possible permanent cover for the second edition, with a new back cover photo coming soon)

"Very bloody. I like bloody.
Annie wrote: Very bloody...."I figured you'd like it even if no one else did! Took me forever to get the blood spatter how I wanted it, so many choices for gore :)
Aiya! Horror covers would be sooo much fun to design!! Hmm...*ponders possible genre switch*
For reals, though, there would be a bazillion choices for sure! Never thought of it, actually.
A phrase I've always itched to use, though can never seem to find the time and place: "Took me forever to get the blood spatter how I wanted it"...guess I just have to wait til the right moment strikes...Bravo on the early cover, my friend. A scarlet-hued salute to you.
Cool video clip too...and I'd agree with our friendly critics above about a letting the words linger across a bit

I'm sure your writing would be just as awesome in any genre you chose to write in

Can't wait to get the actual cover put together with the new back cover photo.
Here's the latest review for Written in Blood, if it helps anyone decide that it might be worth a read ;PFeb 09, 2017

it was amazing
Thrilling crime read!
Very fast paced, unpredictable, clean crime fiction.
None of the extreme violence or unnecessary profanities typical of the crime genre.
Intensely powerful character voices just jump off the pages, desperate to tell their story.
John and Ken are both such versatile great 3D characters.
No cardboard cut outs of "good/bad cop".
John has an almost paternal air about him and his faith adds to this element.
Ken is a fascinating and complex character.
Brilliant writing from Nathan Bush, with fabulous use of the unforeseen twist just before the end.
Written in Blood would make a great movie or TV series, likely to appeal to fans of Chicago P.D & Law & Order.
The link, just in case!

Has anyone ever heard of Pipe&Thimble Publishing? An author shared their page on the Books Go Social FB page. They are opening an Indie only bookstore in Lomita, CA and are going to sell print books on consignment. They are offering a 70/30 spilt. Just trying to figure out if it would be worth the time and investment of purchase/shipping costs.
Nathan wrote: "Has anyone ever heard of Pipe&Thimble Publishing? An author shared their page on the Books Go Social FB page. They are opening an Indie only bookstore in Lomita, CA and are going to sell print book..."I guess not
Sorry, Nathan, I haven't. I've heard of a few other indie only bookstores and I've gotta say, they tend to have high "stocking fees" and other things that are not really geared toward the authors so just my two cents, be careful. ;)
Christina wrote: "Sorry, Nathan, I haven't. The "contract" they emailed has no listing for stocking fees, just the amount for the 70/30 split. They only want five copies of each book you send, as well, but I will investigate further.
Thanks
Haven't heard of that outfit before, but I'm interested in how it works for you if you end up trying it :)
Marie wrote: "Haven't heard of that outfit before, but I'm interested in how it works for you if you end up trying it :)"I will definitely let you know
Did some more digging into Pipe&Thimbles Indie only book store and found that they don't have any kinds of fees other than the 70/30 split. Will be seriously considering sending some books that way once book two is published.
Annie wrote: "Shall be closely following your progress (totes the wrong word haha!) on this, Mr Nathan!"Hopefully it will go well and I'll be able to get a fanbase out there, seeing how I don't have one around here, hahahaaaaaaa!

I'm a fan, I'm a fan!*jumps up and down hysterically in his living room*
Sweet review, buddy. If only I hadn't caught that part about a damn twist near the end...now how'm I gonna read it??
Just found a new review, totally stoked about it!Feb 15, 2017

MY THOUGHTS
This author did an amazing job of putting out this book, written in first person which is given by two different people. Not an easy task for a writer. As you turn the pages, as a good book should, it keeps you wondering. Mr. Bush brings us authentic characters. They are everyday people with everyday lives. Not characters that are glossed over, like icing on the cake. I did find the pace to be rather slow, but to me, that was refreshing. It gave me time to take in the characters and think about what was going on. I find it also refreshing that he puts in some scripture in the book.
I have never read a book that gives three different takes. I really enjoyed that. What brutal killer is leaving the message, "WRITTEN IN BLOOD" at the horrendous crime scenes? If you love good crime books and you like trying to figure out the crimes, then grab this book for sure. It will keep you intense from beginning to end. We only have a short time on this earth, and sometimes fate and life step in and change that. Sometimes the emotions may grab hold and you may wipe a tear or two from your eyes. A look at what happens in our world and it's ever so real. We can turn our heads but that doesn't change things. Faith is a big answer to how we deal with life. Just because it has some scripture in it, anyone, religious or not can and will enjoy this book.
There is none righteous, no not one. -Romans 3:10
This means no one is innocent. We are valuable to God, because He created us and loves us, but none can earn right standing before God. (from book)
I was given a complimentary copy of this book from the author and voluntarily decided to review it.
Thanks Gayle, greatly appreciated!
Sooo...I wanna pretend I'm like this:

But in reality I'm totally like this:
